Meanwhile the Big 12 is gonna pass a rule to prohibit transfers that have been naughty..
That's certainly gonna hurt some schools..

A Federal Appeals Court rules that NCAA cannot control or prohibit college athletes from being paid to play their sport...
..at least up to the "cost of attendance"....(currently said to be about $5,000 max)

this ruling effectively could be construed to apply to any organization - but specifies NCAA cannot prohibit participating athletes
from being paid by their teams - up to that certain level -
and if they do, then it's a violation of the Sherman Anti-trust Act.
This case is expected now to be appealed to the US Supreme Court

the PJS coverage is a bit misleading...
they say...

as if this ruling is a setback to the ATHLETES, and that they cannot be paid at all, but that is false....

In reality it is a big setback to the NCAA who will almost certainly pursue an appeal..and DOES allow payments to players for full cost of attendance.
The athletes got what they wanted - namely the right to be paid above just the scholarship - but...
The court did defer any ruling on unlimited cash payment to athletes

one step further...NCAA athletes are now banned from using such fantasy sites......

these fantasy sites are being defined & regulated as gambling sites...
