wonder if he'd have had his suspension removed without missing a single game or practice had this occurred at other schools....

I don't expect any further suspension from games to last too long. Drake plays Iowa State at home on November 15, and I would be surprised if he misses that important game.
The final decision has been made on suspensions for Rayvonte Rice and Kurt Alexander following their arrests in August for theft.
They will both be suspended for Drake's exhibition game against Quincy, and their first game against Upper Iowa.
As predicted, they will be reinstated in time for Drake's 2nd game Nov. 15 against Iowa State.

so they won't miss any real D-I games?

"Phelps defended including the exhibition game as part of the suspensions.

“It’s the first two games on our schedule, bottom line. There will be tickets
sold and there will be fans in the stands,” he said."

So not to be negative nellie, but how is that different than what Taylor did by sitting out the red-white? I know he didnt commit a crime, but he was suspended for 1 game that was an exhibition as well.

Kurt and Tre will also miss tonight's intrasquad scrimmage as part of their punishment. I wonder which school's students will the first ones to throw packages of socks onto the floor during Drake's player introductions. My guess is the Iowa students on Dec. 17th.

so you equate arrested for a crime with a team-rules violation --

I knew this was inevitable-- in the past few years even the tiniest violations by BU players seem to get compared to the rapes, DUI's, thefts, and major arrests elsewhere...
I don't condone any rules violation - but BU players have always gotten significant discipline even when the violations are miniscule - compared to most other schools that get miniscule discipline for significant crimes...

Sounds like another "Phelps Phlops". He needs to watch what comes out of his mouth.

I'm a little confused by this quote, LB. I'm not going to defend Phelps most of the time, but I'm not sure what he said that would make this a "Phelps Phlop".

By saying "he needs to watch what comes out of his mouth", you make it sound like he said something inappropriate. In this case, I'm not sure what that would be.

If you disagree with the punishment, that's fine. But, I'm having a hard time figuring out what's wrong with Phelps' statement itself. Even on Drakenation, where people will rip Phelps for any possible reason, nobody took issue with his statement.

Two games seems small in nature but if the players have learned their lesson then that is what matters most, if a second offense happens then everyone can say that 2 games were not enough, this was not that big of a crime and kids make stupid mistakes, had they done what the Illinois players did years ago and committed felonies then they should have been kicked off like D.Taylor who now appears to be doing drugs.

The thing is I know that all the players started with clean slates under GF, but this isnt Taylors first instance of breaking team rules. You would think a senior would know better and would be mature enough to be able to follow a simple team rule. IF you would have actually read my post instead of scoffing at it then you would have noticed that I acknowledged that Taylor hadnt committed a crime.

not one of TB's violations has been anything more than boys being boys -- nothing of legal significance and his record is totally clean as the only one involving legal authorities was deferred then dropped
And yet he's served more punishment that the Drake players are going to get....and more then ISU players with DUI's got, more than the UNI players with robberies, more than the SIU players & coaches with DUI's and police assaults, etc.....

The attempts to equate TB's situation to robberies, rapes, and DUI's elsewhere in the Valley is a real stretch

this is not malicious harmful behavior, assaults, drunken bar-fighting-kind-of stuff..
I'd give him a few games penalty then another chance.........

This must be at least 20 players either suspended or dismissed at SIU in Lowery's reign...
and it was predictable since the discipline has been pretty soft.
Really? I have never walked out of a store with something and didn't know I had to pay the item.
Well let me just quote the late-great Colonel Sanders, who said..."I'm too drunk to taste this chicken."
