He is huge and skinny.

Yes, I saw him play last November with La Lumiere in the Tournament of Champions at Washington HS. He looked like he was a legitimate 7-footer then, and was extremely athletic. He was very skinny, but appeared to have more developed basketball skills and instincts than most African big kids.

Good quesiton -
Ajou - much like a whole lot of the foreign or African imigrants (Hamga, Wilkins, Jobe, Shang Ping) - is having trouble with getting qualified.
He is headed to juco by one report today in the Albuquerque Journal

Saw a couple things happening regarding La Lumiere..

-first - in their first big matchup with a top ranked prep team, Oak Hill, they got hammered 77-59

-second - one of their premier players Johnnie Vassar just up and quit & left school in the middle of the semester - and the coach publicly stated...
"Please no calls about Johnnie Vassar. This is the only official comment.
"Johnnie and his mother were unhappy with his role with La Lumiere basketball.
In addition, Johnnie did not live up to the expectations
of a La Lumiere basketball player. Johnnie left school last evening. As of today,
he is not on campus. He does plan to take his final
exams next week. We wish Johnnie and his mother the best of luck in their pursuit of his dreams."

-then their coach Alan Huss (who has posted on this board before) left a few funny tweets

followup on highly rated point guard Johnny Vassar who got an offer from Illinois a full year ago last spring when he was still JUST A FRESHMAN.....
Vassar is Class of 2014 - currently a sophomore...originially from Chicago but spent time at both Lawrence Academy in Massachusetts & at La Lumiere in Indiana.
He has a close relationship with Jerrance Howard and some say he is the top point guard in the Class of 2014..

And the new Rivals article says that he has heard from Illinois & Jerrance, and despite the coaching change - the offer still stands.
He also still is getting strong interest from DePaul and "interest from Pittsburgh and Temple. ...North Carolina, Kentucky, Duke, Texas, Syracuse, and Arizona"

He will play AAU ball with SYF Players from Indiana, one of the top AAU programs in the midwest

Cheir Ajou was pursued by Northwestern but never got cleared - then the talk was that he is going to walk on at Butler

Chier ajou did go to Northwestern but halfway thru his 2nd year now he hasn't played much, so he's leaving and transferring -
sure he's 7-feet but he is extremely unskilled......

Ajou is said to be a cousin of the Bulls' Luol Deng and also did not want to live any longer near Chicago - likely he will wait to see where Luol plays before transferring
