Along this topic -- I will offer a couple trivia questions....

There are some other Illinois high school basketball players who are not on this list of HOF inductees that put up some pretty good numbers in college..

    So here's the trivia question....

-name the Illinois high schooler who played basketball in Illinois then went on
to college and holds the RECORD for the most points scored in college of
    any Illinois high schooler?

-also - name the kid who played high school basketball in Illinois who scored
2616 points in college and also holds the RECORD for the MOST 3-pointers
scored in college of any kid who played his high school basketball in Illinois.
    (444)

The first one will be easy - the 2nd will not..........

That is right -- Hersey Hawkins is the answer to the first part --
the other kid played basketball in high school here in Peoria about 20 years ago -- he went to college out of state and had a prolific scoring career with 444 3-pointers
(for comparison Jeremy Crouch ended his career with 262 and Andrew Warren finished with 225),
He played in the NBA and has an NBA Championship ring to show for it.

In fact he is the FIRST person to have played high school ball in Peoria that subsequently played in the NBA and it is NOT Howard Nathan

Jay Shidler's name is on the list being inducted...
              "Jay Shidler (Lawrenceville)..."

and the guy I am hinting at is a player who only played one varsity season of basketball in the Peoria area in '89-'90 -- and he is not well known....
BUT -- his family then moved back to California, he attended a small NAIA college and was their all time scoring leader...
playing two seasons in the NBA with Shaq & Kobe on the Lakers and holding an NBA Championship ring from 2001...

Mike played one year at Peoria Christian HS
