Why would any true basketball fan have anything against Georgetown, that team with Patrick Ewing was fun to watch and that National Championship game...Georgetown vs. Villanova was one of the best ever, Villanova hardly missed a shot. I'll always take the side of any American team

T - So anti-USA here Gtown is representing our country and after facts and videos are out you still stick with your first thoughts?

In fact by all accounts is that the refs were calling a horrible game in favor of the Chinese military team and the Georgetown players acted out after receiving yet another hard foul. So what you are saying Americans should just stand around there and take a beating? I do not think anyone from anywhere should take a beating. Perhaps Gtown should have left the court before the fight started?

From all the reports I have read, this brawl was precipitated 100% by the Chinese. I don"t understand why so many posters are shooting from the hip and immediately blaming G'Town!

Unless the Chinese put in some controls of some kind (Very unlikely), I feel the US should put a stop to these basketball trips to China for a period of time, perhaps a year or two.

I have traveled to China many, many times and IMO these"exchanges" have very little real world value.

I would urge you to watch again the FIRST few seconds of this video..esp. right as the game action begins -- just the first 6-8 seconds!

As the Georgetown player is bringing the ball up to midcourt a Chinese player attempts to block his pass and makes contact with the Georgetown player...

the VERY first act of the Georgetown player is also the VERY first offensive move and first punch in this fight.
The Georgetown player responds to the contact with a swing of his fist right at the Chinese players face.

The roundhouse punch occurs only 6 seconds into this video so you may have missed it..but clearly it is the Georgetown player who initiates this melee.
Also - it was almost impossible to see the punch that started it all on the other video as it was at the extreme left almost off the screen.

Well apparently we do... The Georgetown player did shove the Chinese player to
start the altercation... I mean, with the foul count 57-13 or whatever it was, I would image
some frustration finally boiled over for a player who's team was continuously getting beat
up with no foul calls. The refs were clearly bias (same thing happened when Duke
played a Chinese team the same day- foul count was something like 4 or 5:1. Eventually
you just get so frustrated you overreact and push someone.

How many times do you see a shove or push in an NCAA or NBA game that DOES NOT
lead to an all out brawl. Just because the Georgetown player shoved the Chinese player
as the first "act", a shove to the face and a punch from behind is what the Georgetown
player got in return.

The refs lost control of the game long before that and deserve some blame in this as well.
I am not saying Georgetown players are in the "right" but Chinese players were 100% in
the WRONG... I can't believe this is still even being discussed after watching the
videos... Well, actually, yes I can since it seems to be only "t" on one side of the
argument...

Some people can never admit when they are clearly wrong....... even when 99% of the people see it exactly the opposite. smh

Have not chimed in yet so here goes...

The Chinese players are not 100% to blame...they carry to largest portion of the blame...but Georgetown can take a share as well...if you asked their players I think they would admit that...ok maybe not admit it publicly ....

The officials probably have some blame coming their way and the coaches do to...

We don't know the whole story...but there is blame to spread around...

I agree. There are now several versions of video posted (most are on YouTube) and there are clearly several Georgetown players aggressively involved in fighting at the start of the brawl. The Chinese players get involved, and carry the fight to even higher levels, but the US players share the blame.

Nobody is saying the Gtown players don't share some of the blame, but first few posts on this thread was giving them all the blame.

The Chinese have already "washed" these photos from the linked website...... as if it never happened. Gotta love Communist Governments...... wonder if Obama will do the same here. jk

Georgetown fans on their message boards seem strangely pleased by these events as they are saying this is like Georgetown teams of old. They're happy that this team showed some toughness.

I watch that video and DO NOT see a Georgetown team at blame. What I see is mob action by the Chinese players and most American players trying to avoid escalating this brawl. Granted, we don't see what may have led up to this but from what I see here I certainly can't place blame on the Georgetown players or their coaching staff.
