Biggest Question Mark for the Braves this year?

So, what does everyone think the biggest question mark is this year? I'd like to avoid coaching of any sort, so keep it to our players.

I imagine most will say our big men, but I'm going to break the mold and say our point guard play. I think rather than big men stepping up the Braves season depends on someone stepping up to play excellent point guard duties. I would expect this to be DSE or JC personally, but I know many are high on DStew. I think SS, TB, and JP can be a solid MVC frontline, but it's been a very long time since BU has had ? marks at the 1, and it makes me kind of nervous. I think this will mean a very rocky non-con slate, but I am really starting to think a 4thish place finish it possible if someone does step up to really run the offense.

Anyone else with thoughts?

I think the lack of a true center is a problem, but i agree someone has to drive the car and the lack of a pg is the Major problem here. I think you cannot take DSE and make him run the point....more effective at the two spot...i do realize Jalen is not a typical pass first PG...and DS is not use to running the point and at this point the only other option is WL...he is not a pg...nor is he a two guard...but he has the speed to handle the position just to get you some minutes in case DS OR JC are in foul trouble...i think that DS will be able to run the point if his foot speed gets better..i do not think you can put DSE back at the point this year...need his scoring to bad.

I was about to post something very similar. We will be lacking inside, especially with Will out for the year. We need more scoring than the obvious sources- DSE and TB, and we need stronger PG play than it appears we have right now.

Not worried about scoring as much as post defense and rebounding, if we can take care of those 2 things then we can have a decent season.

I think the biggest question mark in general is going to be Taylor Brown, all around. He can literally perform anywhere on a scale of 1-10, who really knows what this kid will be able to do this year. I'm hoping he is at about a 12/10!

IMO, the biggest question mark for the Braves this year is... How long will it take til the honeymoon is over between KW and and GF?

I am not a big bb analyst....but here goes...

BU has lived and died the past couple seasons by guard penetration, outside guard weave, and 3 pt shooting. I believe the PG position is mission critical to this type offense. If BU changes offense, would it be as critical?

BU struggled with defense from their PG last couple of seasons allowing interior penetration by opposition PGs which exposed BU's soft interior.

Perhaps the best candidate for PG is someone who can stop opposition PG's from penetrating the middle of BU's defense any time they want?

Lack of depth in the interior will be a big ? for BU, particularly if BU can't light it up from the perimeter like it focused on in the past.

But for me, the biggest questions for BU are:
1. Will the fan base bounce back and fill the joint night in and night out?(helping the coffers and hopefully stimulating recruiting)
2. Will there continue to be stale/lame half time and time out activities, and, BU Band music?

But again, what the he!! do I know anyway?

WE has never seemed like a true big man to me. No insult to him; he seems like a great kid. BU has been lacking at the 5 spot since POB, but most teams have this issue. Guard play and HEALTH will be the most important factors.

The biggest question mark is and has been for last few seasons HEALTH.

My biggest questions is where we are gonna get the points from if our jump shots aren't falling? Are we gonna have some kind of inside presence, or can we find a way to get into the lane at all? And how is Taylor going to play after sitting out a year? If we find some inside scoring, Bradley could be a tough team to face.

Gerry, I agree with you 100%. I think our problem lies at the center spot. Not so much JP but depth now with WE is out for the year. Yes we do need someone to drive the car. The keys are in the ignition but we need someone to take the drivers test and pass it. Hope it's DS or Jalen because using DSE there takes his scoring opportunities away. Do you think Jalen can become a more think pass first PG or do we go with DS. I'm not convinced at all about WL running the point unless coach tells him he is a pass first PG or he sits. Maybe I'm not giving him enough credit but his shot needed major work and I hope this summer he spent alot of time developing it. Love his energy and how he can get to the basketball but cringe when he shoots anything ouside 7'.
