Looks like Sammy is one of the coach's favorites and gonna start and play a bunch... but the whole team is gonna have to shoot better, as 4-19 from 3-pt is not going to beat a lot of good teams.
The opponent Roma Selezione (Rome Select) was a regional amateur club team that is not in any of Italy's pro leagues...although some of the players have played some pro ball.

Fairfield with their new head coach Sydney Johnson - who was a candidate for the job here (even tho ESPN's Andy Katz called it a "money grab") - plays this same Roma Selezione team on August 17

It is still way early, but I think it is fair to say that anyone would want Sam their team.

Illinois down 43-42 midway thru the 3rd quarter

Tyler Griifey had 10 & Sammy had 7 in the first half to lead the Illini in the halftime stats...
Brandon Paul also had 7, Abrams had 4, and Bertrand, Head, Leonard, Henry & Egwu all had 2 ea

Game being described as very intense, physical, with a lot of fouls called.
