  • ISU loses a player

Bryant Allen, a 2-sport star who had transferred to ISU from Minnesota, was dismissed from the ISU football team due to academic issues. He had planned to play basketball for ISU after the football season ended, but now that won't happen.

Allen was a guard from the St. Louis area that several MVC teams recruited for basketball, but he eventually signed a football scholarship with Minnesota, though he also played basketball. In his only season at Minnesota, he played in 9 games for the basketball team.

Technically he can still get his grades in order by the time the basketball season starts. Although he will not be on scholarship since he was recieving one from football. If the NCAA rules against John Jones (after ruling in his favor....weird), that would open up a scholarship.

He could play bball (if he were to get academics in order) if he paid his own way as well... At least I assume he could... Can't imagine this issue has come up very often in NCAA history...
