Nate Rucker, a 6-6, 228 pound forward would have been a sophomore this coming year at Northern Illinois, and was being counted on as a key returning player for new NIU coach Mark Montgomery, but he made a sudden and surprising decision to leave school and not return this fall. He averaged 7.1 ppg and 4.1 rpg last season, and started 29 of 30 games. He had his best game of the season in NIU's game at Bradley last November, scoring a season-high 14 points and grabbing a game-high and season-high 10 rebounds.
