Glad to see Proviso East on the list; very entertaining brand of basketball and Brown and Carter make up one of the best backcourts in the state.

Gallatin County has a 6'10/270 '13 recruit that Illinois State is showing interest in: http://chicagohoops.hoops247.com/ind...&catid=35:news

One of the best players in Illinois in the Class of 2013 is Keith Carter of Proviso East --
he had boiled his choices down to reportedly just Creighton and Loyola -- and was thought to be a Creighton-lean - having just talked with one of the Creighton reporters....
then he announces he's going to Loyola and Porter Moser..

Bradley was also recruiting Carter, a 6' combo guard from Proviso East, as was Creighton. Our coaches were working on getting him on campus for a visit, and he already had visits arranged with other schools, but he made a sudden decision last night to end his recruiting and commit to Loyola.

Wow -- great job of recruiting -- and Loyola has a strong 4-man 2012 recruiting class...
lots of people are giving big time kudos to Loyola's head coach - Porter Moser -- for getting it done so fast there...

Hmmm.. didn't one of the Valley's school have this guy and he was bringing All Conference talent in there as well (Osiris, etc..) and yet they canned him??

Porter Moser has already gotten commitments from 4 quality players for 2012, including a couple that Bradley was recruiting (Nick Osborn, Keith Carter).
Now he gets a verbal commitment from a pretty good 2013 player Quenten Payne. He is the younger brother of Cully Payne, who is also at Loyola (sitting out a year after transferring in from Iowa).

One of the key players that Porter Moser thought he had a committment from, Keith Carter of Proviso East, may not be coming to Loyola after all. There are reports that Carter has notified Moser he is withdrawing his verbal commitment.
Carter is the top available point guard in the state of Illinois for the class of 2012, and usually a quick decommittment like this signals that Carter has been hearing from some of the bigger schools that they might be interested in him if he hadn't committed so early.

I hope Coach Ford and his new staff take advantage of the talent brought into the ToC..... Bradley could find five players a year from the event if they wanted- but the event was always taken for granted by previous Bradley coaches.

Two years ago- a Bradley coach was asked what he thought of a certain player in the ToC- This player was a promising 6'2" guard who had just one offer to his credit, and that was from SIU.

The Bradley coach said and I quote "He is good, but he is not good enough to play in the Missouri Valley Conference" The player's name was B.J. Young- who graduated as a "Top 25" player in the nation and is now projected to start in his freshman season at ARKANSAS of the SEC.

Juvonte Reddic was a 6'9" PF who Bradley passed on for the same reason- and he just happened to be the backup big man/occassional starter for VCU last season as a Freshman. A team that made it to the final four in the NCAA tournament.

These statements are not knocks on the Bradley program by any means- I just hope the new regime takes advantage of the boat load of talent playing in their own back yard every November!

I have heard differently on Reddic -- Bradley wanted him but he wanted to stay out east...

Bradley definitely wanted and offered Reddic. Many fans know that. He wanted to come to BU until he got the VCU offer.
Bradley coaches were also on BJ Young and liked him before anyone had offered him. Our coaches travelled to St. Louis several times to watch him. But the exact words I heard about him were "head case" and "academic trainwreck" . He got kicked off his HS team more than once and switched schools to try to find a coach who wanted him. He would not have qualified for Bradley.

                              True on both counts.....however......

                              1) Bradley coaches never saw Reddic play at the TOC. They heard about him through other people who attended the event. They requested video tapes from the ToC to see him. THEN they offered.

                              2) B.J. Young was not recruited by Bradley until the end of his junior year- after he continued to tear up the St. Louis circuit. They had to stop and revisit and rescout him after not liking him at the TOC, where he poured in 25 points in about 2.5 quarters of play. The headcase thing is for real- that is why he was not named to the Mc Donald's All-America team.

That is why I posted the statement- I hope Coach Ford and his staff take advantage of the talent in their own back yard.

The ToC is a tool for college recruiting. One of the reasons we have this event is to bring in college coaches from all levels so they can see Peoria's local talent against talent from across the country. We want players like Max Bielfeldt to be seen! Michigan sent a scout to the event last year to see Max, why didn't Bradley?

It is funny when I see Tom Crean, Matt Painter, Howard Moore, etc, etc, etc. come to the event- but we can't even get a contigency from Bradley to come to Washington for more than one day.

Oh well.... just trying to help.
