  • College Basketball's Top 100 Coaches

I will save you the time so you don't have to click on this ridiculous compilation..of the best 100 college coaches EVER -- I mean this encompasses over 100 YEARS!!!
College coaches are the face of their program. They have more control than their professional counterparts because they get to pick their players through recruiting...

    Here are some representative ones...
    100. James Naismith
    99. Dick Vitale (right away you see how ridiculous and lacking credibility this list is -- it's just compiled to kiss up to people who might post a link and get more clicks!)
    97. Jack Hartman (deserves way higher)
    94. Tom Crean -- gimme a freakin' break!!
    93. Chris Lowery -- yes -- I am not kidding, SIU's Chris Lowery is in their TOP 100! - Link
    91. Ben Jacobson - wow....
    89. Billy Gillispie
    88. Shaka Smart (lightning in a bottle??)
    87. Digger Phelps - need I offer any further evidence this list is just to get kiss-ups?
    86. Bruce Weber - at least he beat Digger!
    80. Matt Painter
    78. Bruce Pearl -- had to take a few minutes to stop gagging on this one...
    74. Dana Altman - this guy must love the Valley because Dana isn't on this list because of his accomplishments at Oregon
    72. Lon Kruger
    67. Rick Majerus
    65. Tom Penders -- really?
    64. Gene Keady - deserves way, way higher
    63. Brad Stevens - a little early to say
    45. Bill Self - I expected higher
    43. Bob Huggins
    42. Bo Ryan
    41. Tubby Smith
    39. John Calipari
    38. Lou Henson
    35. Gary Williams
    33. Rick Pitino - UK fans are bummed about this
    30. Tark
    26. Ray Meyer
    19. Denny Crum
    16. Billy Donovan
    15. Lute Olson
    14. Geno Auriemma - for real??
    13. Jim Boeheim
    12. Tom Izzo
    11. Eddie Sutton
    10. Hank Iba
    9. Phog Allen
    8. Pat Summit - ridiculous
    7. Jim Calhoun - double ridiculous
    6. Roy Williams
    5. Adolph Rupp
    4. Dean Smith
    3. Bobby Knight - expected this
    2. Mike Krzyzewski
    1. John Wooden

Pretty sure Digger deserves to be on that list. Beating more #1 teams then any other coach save Gary Williams is an amazing feat. Plus, ending UCLA's 88 game winning streak with a much less talented team is another great accomplishment.

I refuse to read any bleacher report "article" (and I use that term as lightly as humanly possible). They are a joke.

It does give a place for young people to write about sports, so I admire it for that, but the articles/lists on that website are usually poorly written, lack any research and are just made to fill space.

I know -- but it was marginally worth discussing...
but they never tell you anything without making you click 100 times -- clear evidence they are simply devising a way to boost their page-view counts so they can garner more ad revenue that gets paid to them on the basis of per-page-view..
