There's one simple reason this will drift to the back pages and be forgotten and the NCAA will never, never open an investigation...
Just as they said they'd investigate Kansas when there was the corruption with insiders illegally scalping tickets - then they never did...

It's because 80% of the biggest names in college basketball and the NCAA itself are tied up in this one...
Soon - the NCAA will learn that if they investigate this one, HALF of D-I would get the death penalty so they'll begin deflecting attention
by finding some free lunch that the SEMO head coach bought for a player or a ride from the airport for a kid at a Valley school --

One new interesting development in the David Salinas investment scandal that involved numerous D-I coaches...JANK GAVE AN INTERVIEW...

Tim Jankovich said this in an interview yesterday...
"Illinois State men’s basketball coach Tim Jankovich calls himself
an ‘acquaintance friend’ of David Salinas"

      But previously he had said...
"The coach of his Houston Select AAU team, David Salinas, is
good friends with first-year ISU coach Tim Jankovich"

Yesterday the Federal Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a suit against the investment firm

Billy Gillispie now tied to yet another investment/extortion scandal..

seems he gave $3 million to an acquaintance for the purpose of..
loaning to others..." at exorbitant annual interest rates..." of up to 60%

there are also charges of " fraud, embezzlement and larceny..." and running a "ponzi scheme"

Billy Gillispie is not currently under any charges but surely he had to know he was giving his money to unscrupulous people for illegal purposes!!

Other top college coaches are also named -- mostly football ...and the bookkeeping is atrocious...see below...
You gotta wonder who many other crooked "investment schemes" like this and the Salinas case there are...and is Gillispie involved in all of them??

Here's an example of the professional degree of record keeping this scam used...

Dr. C blogs about a new ingenious way of getting an advantage -- and possibly a corrupt one as well....

University of Texas is trying to start up their own television network -- kinda like the Big Ten Network - but in this case ONLY for their school, the University of Texas...
They run it, they own it, and they will profit from it if it makes money -- but even if it doesn't there's a way UT will still come out ahead!

So far they are having trouble clearing legal hurdles to put their own football games on TV without ticking off NCAA and the Big 12...so here's what they are trying to do........

they are going to televise high school football games -- but not just any high schools, obviously they are going to feature all the high schools that they are trying to recruit kids from...

This would, of course, give then a TREMENDOUS recruiting advantage in landing those kids and there would be at least the appearance that they landed the kids in some form of pay-for-play....

Interesting to see how this turns out...

Here's a long and detailed, 6-page story about numerous violations at University of Southern Mississippi.

You have to read how many and how varied all these violations are - some minor but some are MORE serious
than the stuff NCAA has been hammering SEMO and small schools for!

In the end -- despite these nearly endless violations - the NCAA never penalized USM even ONE TIME!!!!!!!

One of the violations was committed by Greg Heiar -- who is now assistant coach at Wichita State...

here's a sampling of some of the violations...there's too many to detail them all...

-USM men’s basketball assistant coach Greg Heiar spoke publicly
and was quoted publicly speaking about unsigned recruits - a violation that
does give an advantage to his school.

-USM men’s head basketball coach Larry Eustachy also made illegal contact
              with recruits...

-multiple times athletes who were either NOT signed, or had NOT been
properly enrolled, or drug tested, or deemed eligible, and even one who was a
NON-QUALIFIER - were allowed to participate or used in games and practices.

This is the VERY violation that so many of the smaller schools like SEMO and
Alabama State get hammered by NCAA for!

-Academic fraud -- players having their tests and papers written for them by
someone else! This is also one violation the NCAA has MANY times cited as
extremely serious and really hammered the SEMO-type schools.
Also players being given money ($150) to write other athletes' papers.

-Coaches gave money to players and awarded money to them for exceptional
performance...even stuffing gifts of hundreds of $$ in their gym bags.
Coaches also paid hundreds of dollars (up to $815) of athletes' expenses in
              violation of rules.

-they allowed recruits on campus for visits to participate in game and
              pregame activities - a violation..

-Illegal participation in unauthorized summer events and leagues..as well as
athletes who had been deemed academically ineligible - being allow to still
              participate!

-they used non-coaches on their staff that were given coaching assignments
and duties - a definite violation

-multiple times members of the coaching staff gave public statements and
interviews regarding recruits and even allowed photos of recruits to be
posted on their fan web sites

-videos of recruits and players from summer workouts were made and even
posted publicly on YouTube - a definite recruiting and coaching violation.

-they also violated many rules regarding pre-season tours, off-season
practices and workouts, as well as giving out University releases and press
clips on unsigned athletes and recruits.

PLUS - many other recruiting a contact violations...

-then the biggie () - the Southern Miss. Cheerleaders attended recruits'
signing ceremonies and are photographed with them - hmmmm...

Here's a very telling answer given by the head of the NCAA

In an interview a very direct question is asked...

"What percentage of college football programs are clean?"

                NCAA President Mark Emmert answers...
"..unanswerable...Our games have never been so popular."

I guess you can draw your own conclusions...
