I'd have to believe that the NBA owners are not to happy but what can they do? A man has a right to earn a living.

I bet if someone had enough money they could start their own small league of ALL-Stars here in the USA and make a real go of it. 8 team league in the largest market playing in large venues over a 3 month time and produce it yourself and sell the broadcast rights to a cable company or better yet air it over the internet.

I haven't read every article, but it seems these NBA players want us to believe they have signed and will definitely play in Europe. But I am not buying it. I cannot believe that if they are indeed signing a contract, it gives them the option to back out if the NBA resolves their labor issues and there is an NBA season this fall.

I'm sure that could be done, but it couldn't be done overnight. The logistics of setting up the league would take quite a lot of time and money. It would probably take longer to get the league set up than the lock-out will last. Booking venues and obtaining practice facilities alone would be expensive. It seems pretty unlikely that NBA players would be willing to drop down to one of the lower level US leagues.

DC: Most of what I've heard or read is that probably only a couple all-star level players will go to Europe. It is far more likely that mid to lower level players go over. It has been widely reported that the NBA players will be allowed out if/when the NBA resumes.

I can't see Kobe going as he is recovering from knee surgery. All-star level players will probably have a hard time adjusting to the Euro leagues. This entire topic sounds far more like an empty threat than reality. Brandon Jennings hated playing in Europe.

Childress on Europe: "I played for one of the biggest clubs in Europe," Childress says. "But there were still six- and seven-hour bus rides, we didn't stay at the best hotels and we flew commercial nine out of 10 times. And not all coaches care about your body. It's more military style. There's no getting tired. I'll be interested to see how guys' bodies respond."

        Good article here: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/bal...urn=nba-wp6375

        Largely NBA posturing IMO.

We should extend an invitation for Kobe to join the Midwest Flames. Makes perfect sense to me

I agree. Imagine these guys traveling the modern and luxurious country of Turkey with their posse's? C'mon. This is all a cat and mouse game with the owners.

With the NFL and NBA labor issues, all the more reason to love college athletics.

I love the NFL...the best professional league IMO, but I love college football as well!

Can't stand to watch the NBA, a bunch of cry babies, spread the floor and let your best player go 1 on 1, rules against certain defenses....I don't care if they ever settle the labor issue!
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

                !
                I agree.

                Trivia Question:

Why do MLB players ACTUALLY make the highest salaries in sports?

                  They play more games.

I find MLB unwatchable. It's like watching golf. I love the NFL but can't get behind NCAA football without a playoff system.
