Dave Reynolds' 6/30 article- A New Chemistry Class
Great article. As we have said here before, it's great to see articles about the players, especially the new guys.
But I wonder, is this the first time we have ever had freshmen? This is just the kind of coverage people have asked for, but in past years, apologists for the paper have always said there is no purpose in reporting stuff like this, and that the pj star is not Bradley's publicist.

You are totally right -- in the past when fans have asked for or begged for some good off season coverage, that's exactly the tripe we'd hear -- that it's not the PJS' job to promote BU or be their press agent! Yet I certainly do appreciate when we get good coverage.
Agree with what has been posted here. Nice read. Hope to see more!
Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final
???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

BU Bill is absolutely right, and I have heard this same thing from a number of fans.
We were told by some that fans here are already familiar with the Bradley players, so what purpose is there in reporting about them.
We were also told that the reporters are all very busy, have other jobs, and don't have time to cover Bradley year round.
And we were told "it's the Peoria Journal Star, not the Bradley Journal Star", and that it is not their job to promote Bradley.
Yet, before Geno has ever coached a single game, we are getting much better coverage, and more often than we ever have. And please don't believe the excuse that it was because the coaches refused to allow this kind of coverage. That's never been true. Coaches are sometimes secretive about recruiting and game planning, but they have never been opposed to this kind of coverage about the team and players, which we are now seeing regularly.
...... we are getting much better coverage, and more often than we ever have. .......Keep up the good work!
Agreed! Keep up the good work PJS! Peoria is a small town that loves it's BU Basketball; keep giving your readers what they've been clamoring for for years.
