  • Blake Mishler Starts in First DI Game

Metamora's Blake Mishler was a starter in his very first regular season college game.
Blake started for East Tennessee State against University of Virginia-Wise (a D-II Independent), and played 17 minutes in a 90-43 blowout win over the D-II opponent.
    Blake was 3-5 7 points, 4 rebounds.
Nobody on ETSU played more than 23 minutes and only one player logged more than 21 minutes as everyone got into the action.

"The Bucs are indeed youthful. Starting three freshmen and a sophomore Friday night, it was the first time since 1987 that ETSU has put a starting team on the floor that was so inexperienced. However, after trailing 5-4 with 17:20 remaining in the first half, ETSU took the lead at 6-5 on a foul shot by freshman Blake Mishler (Metamora, Ill.) and never looked back."

He didn't play a whole lot, and as I predicted elsewhere, he'll get very little playing time there, as they tend to go after much more athletic players.
He will transfer back closer to home after a year or so.
