sorry -- my mistake -- I thought we had them the next round..
anyway -- there is another really interesting comment in that article....
That at Missouri State -- "Will Creekmore has petitioned the NCAA for an additional year..."
This is very interesting because by the NCAA rules Creekmore clearly and definitely does NOT qualify for another year...
even tho Creekmore puts his chances at 20% in this interview...
He started playing at Boston University in fall of 2007, was there and dressed and eligible for 8 games, and after playing in just 4 games he decided he didn't want to play there and left -- transferring in midseason to Missouri State. I can't find a mention of an injury and the articles at that time suggest he was unhappy and expected to play more.
After his release was granted by Boston U. and Creekmore was free to speak, this is what he said...
...that he "wanted to pursue opportunities closer to his home," ...and
"I'm from Oklahoma and it's completely different," Creekmore said. "[BU] hadn't been what I thought it was."
"...I think I'd be more comfortable playing closer to home where my family and friends can come see me."
"Playing college basketball is difficult, so in order to do that, you've got to be happy with where you are," he said"
"I thought I could help the team a lot, and it just didn't work out that way," Creekmore said."
"I feel you play college basketball to play," Creekmore said. "I didn't like sitting on the bench.."
"You don't want someone in your program that's not happy, and I wasn't really," he added. "It wasn't the best fit."
Even his own coach at Boston U saw it that way and said it was a matter of Creekmore ..."not getting what (he) wants and it's not working,
so I'm going to go somewhere else.' Even if there is nowhere else,"
"We've been having discussions throughout the semester in terms of where he fit in and how comfortable he was with the situation," Wolff said.
"After the end of last week, the decision was we were going to part ways."
BU basketball freshman Creekmore granted release By Nick Cammarota, The Daily Free Press December 11, 2007 (CSTV U-WIRE) BOSTON -- Freshman forward Will Creekmore's request f
He then sat out a full year and became eligible in midseason of 2008-2009, and he played the rest of that season, then 2009-2010 and 2010-2011.
So Creekmore does not appear to fit the criteria for a medical redshirt which requires he loses a year due to a season ending injury -- because his season ended in 2007-2008 due to quitting the team and transferring not an injury.
Then he played three more seasons at Missouri State -- so he's had his four years of eligibility already played....
BUT -- having said all this -- you still never know -- as I have noted elsewhere -- the only case I have ever seen in basketball where the NCAA granted an extra year of eligibility even though the rules did not seem to allow for it was at Missouri State.....but even then -- there was injury involved in that case...

We had the same discussion about Devin Hill who will have only one not two more years to play as some have said..

Unless they somehow can prove that first redshirt year was completely injury-based (I had always heard it was just the right setting to become a year of training for Taylor...?), then perhaps there's a remote shot... but I'm generally with you, amck.

If TB is anything like I was in college, he probably would prefer to move on in life and professional career after next season, his fifth in JC/College.
Could be playing for money after year 5 via NBA development league or overseas.
The clock would also be ticking for TB if he has any aspirations of trying his hand at NBA by staying in college at age 23-24...BUilding for the Future
