Seattle University -- newcomer to D-I has been invited to join the NINE member WAC (Western Athletic Conference) starting in 2012-2013, and become the 10th member. Seattle was previously an independent -- and in the distant past they played ball with the big boys - LINK (1950-1980 - remember Elgin Baylor led them to the 1958 Final Four - then they dropped back to NAIA in 1980)
Up 'til 1970 they were independent then they joined the West Coast Conference, then dropped back to NAIA in 1980.
They are now reclassifying as D-I and the process will be complete in 2012-2013.
