"Rayvonte Rice has considered transferring from Drake...

At least for now, it appears the Centennial product will remain in the Missouri
    Valley Conference.

"I'm thinking I'm probably going to stay here at Drake. I kind of was looking
around, not to beat around the bush," Rice said Thursday. "But I'm going to
see how it is here for next year, get better, make my teammates better, go
    from there."

I don't know much about the Drake program, is he someone that Geno would be interested in picking up?

if he transfers, there's not much doubt he'd go to a bigger program like Iowa, Illinois, or Iowa State..

Yeah, plus there's a two-year penalty for transfers in conference.

J.W. never signed to play with BU so he could go anywhere and play immediately.

That's bogus. If you're going to do it, do it. If you're not going to do it, don't talk about it to the press.
He a great talent, but he has been a punk since he was in high school; yelling obscenities during the 3A Championship his senior year.

Alright, I just read something that puts it together.
Look for Xavier to continue to stay involved with Illinois prospects, especially with the addition of Drake assistant coach Kareem Richardson to its staff this week. Richardson, who recently landed Champaign Centennial's Rayvonte Rice and Springfield Lanphier's Karl Madison at Drake, is an underrated assistant coach with a lot of value. He was a new member of the annual Hoops Report's "Super Six" assistant coaches last year and has established himself quite well in recruiting the state he played his high school basketball in at Rantoul. Xavier has been involved with Illinois prospects early, particularly Jaylon Tate, a top Class of 2013 prospect, and will likely enhance their presence in Illinois with the addition of Richardson.

With all the news of players who are leaving and transferring - it's interesting that
the news out of Drake is who's NOT transferring..........

...but there is one thing he's not happy about...

Kid sounds like a winner and a leader; I'd like to have him at BU.

Anyone want to wager that RR never has a senior night at Drake?

I believe he will play all 4 years at Drake.
What are you suggesting? That he'll transfer, or that he will leave to play pro somewhere? He's good, but not that good.

I bet he transfers. His recruiter is gone. If Phelps gets axed, I bet he leaves. He was already unhappy...

I'm guessing he pulls a "Sammy". He'll be somebody's "hired gun" for one final season. JMO

Edit: If he lives up to the hype.

Rayvonte is a fine scoring guard...
Last year in MVC play his averages were as below ...
...compared right next to Bradley's 3rd best scorer overall last year, Dyricus Simms-Edwards (DSE had 315 pts total - behind Warren, 602 pts & Dodie, 324 pts)...

                              In League play..
                              Rice- 13.5 ppg, 38.5% (79/205) FG%, 3pt pct 29.1% (23-79), 61.4% on FTs (62-101), 1.3 asst per game,
                              DSE- 12.6 ppg, 48% .................FG%, 3pt pct. 33% (14-43).., 78% ...on FTs, .........and 3.8 asst per game

..yup -- one of the best players in the league...
