  • Sean Harris

There has been no official word where former Bradley recruit Sean Harris will end up, but here is the latest rumor. A poster on a Northern California prep message board reported that Sean is rumored to be headed back to Yuba for another year.

Obviously, this is not the final word on this. I still would not be surprised to see him get a look from the coach at UC Davis when he gets back.

Heard (good source) he is back at Yuba...then I do wonder about UC Davis...

I wonder if he'd get along with the coach at UC Davis.

I still think we may be sorry we missed out on him, though he is certainly something of a question mark after 3 years off.

It is now confirmed that former Bradley commit Sean Harris will return to Yuba College to play his sophomore season. I have heard Coach Les wanted him to come to UC Davis, but he opted to return to Yuba to play for his old coach Doug Cornelius. Coach Cornelius has reloaded at Yuba after a very successful season last year (26-6). In addition to 2008-2009 team MVP Sean Harris returning, he has a couple D1 transfers coming to play for him this fall, Cal State Bakersfield's (Cody Kale), Rice University's (Trevan Abraham), along with several key returning sophomores from last year's team. Looks like Yuba will be pretty good in 2011-2012.

BTW, in the last 9 years that Coach Cornelius has been at Yuba, they have gone 222-72 and 116-19 in the Bay Valley Conference, with a total of 6 conference titles, including the last 5 in a row. During that time, he has sent 59 players on to 4-year schools, including 25 players at D1 schools. Quite impressive!

Sounds like Harris is really getting some "great" advice from his coach...... being led down the path to nowhere for someone else's personal gain or revenge...... Sad.

really??? You have to be kidding -- likely fewer than 1% of junior colleges have had the success Yuba has had both on the court and sending players to the next level...

in fact FOUR of last years players are now at D-I including one in the Big Ten...and also Coach Corn has his kids starting in the SEC (Ezeli at Vandy) and even one playing in the NFL

..as I said -- 99% of juco coaches can only dream of Coach Corn's level of success, and you hint Sean is somehow making a bad decision.....

Sean is a solid D1 prospect, but will be one of the top juco players in the country this year. I think he will get multiple high D1 offers by the end of the year. So how is this decision a mistake?
Recall that, unlike Remy Abell, Bradley's staff did not appear to "recruit" Sean to come to Bradley.

Yeah, it seems like a really good decision to me. Guy's been out of college basketball for a long time, and when the Bradley option went away I doubt he had much in the way of offers. Seems like if he's still got it, he'll have a chance to show his stuff at Yuba and come out with two years of eligibility.

if he averaged more than 17 pts/11 rebs four years ago -- I have a sneaking suspicion his numbers next year will be impressive

Time will tell if I'm right or wrong. You all make great points however, based on comments made here by his current coach (since deleted), I stand by what I said. I think he's being given poor self-serving advice and time will tell if he's missed an opportunity (both here and at UC-D).

He did not get poor advice to NOT come to BU...the coach that recruited him is no longer here...I think he may have gotten some input for where to head after getting out of his BU commit....and it seems logical to me to play another year at Yuba and get back into the swing of things...education is coming first here and he is getting that...

I will point out again that those comments posted here by Coach Cornelius back on March 6 were quickly deleted by him and not by mods. I think they were made as a hasty reaction to the firing of a close friend and do not truly or accurately reflect his sentiments.

There are not many juco coaches that have had the success year in and year out that Coach Cornelius has had, nor who have placed as many kids at 4-year schools as his program has done. I don't see how this can be a bad move for Sean. He will have several great offers by next spring.

Is Sean "blows up" at Yuba as a soph, and goes to a higher D-1 than BU, or UC Davis, like Remy Abel, he was presented an opportunity to step up and he took it.

Personal relationships with coaches can only go so far if you have an opportunity to play up somewhere else. I am sure JL is a great guy and a good coach but there are lots of great guys and good coaches at other BCS schools as well, if the opportunity presents itself.

I still maintain, if Remy or Sean felt BU was the biggest stage they had the chance to play on, they would have gone to BU regardless of the coaching change.

But that's just me, and plenty others disagree, that's ok.
