Dave Reynolds' article about local prep teams and the Richwoods Shootout
You will see some very good high school basketball teams and games, including a lot of local teams including Peoria Central, Manual, Notre Dame, Canton, Limestone, East Peoria, Peoria Christian, Washington, Pekin, Metamora and Dunlap.
Manual will be very good and could be the best team there. The other local teams nearly all lost significant talent. Springfield Lanphier will be the other favorite and they have great talent.
Dave's latest article has the list of teams at the Richwoods Shootout broken down by which pool they play in, and the times-
i've never gone to this, is it worth going to? pairings listed anywhere online?
if you like high school basketball and you don't want to wait until November then YES -- this is a great event -- I go every year and plan to go again tomoorrow..
what you have is essentially the roster of kids who plan to play next fall for the various teams and all the best local teams are generally there as well as great teams from Chicago area and elsewhere..
and the coach uses them all because wins really are not even as important to most of the coaches as seeing all his kids play and using the new kids coming in from JV or from junior high to see how they do...
and the thing I would tout the most is that EVERY one of these players is battling for a spot on this fall's team or battling for a starting position -- so I am amazed when I have gone how hard they play and the effort they give --
I have found the games very enjoyable --
Lastly -- every year or two you get to see some kid who later ends up at Bradley or recruited by Bradley--
Here are some that I recall seeing at these summer events.....
Donivine Stewart, Paris Gulley, Billy Cole, Molinari's kids, Dylan Sparkman, Brett Bisping, TJ Marion, Matt Roth, Jeremy Crouch, Max Bielfeldt, Tyler Les, Jeff (Stokes) White, Dodie Dunson, D'Mitri Riggs, Hayden Hoerdeman, Jordan Nelson, Drew Blumenshine, Matt Reynolds, Lewis Jackson, Tyler Storm, DeAaron Williams, DJ Richardson, Bobo Drummond, and many more...
Players to Watch
Nathan Taphorn - Pekin - 2013 (BU offer)
Jeff White - Manual - 2012 (SIU offer)
Jacoby Roddy - Manual - 2012 (SIU offer)
Peyton Allen - Chatham Glenwood - 2014
Luke Norman - Freeport - 2012
AJ Riley - Maunal - 2013
Preston Wells - Richwoods - 2013
Nick Reynolds - Notre Dame - 2013
Hank Mathews - Limestone - 2013
Anyone else?

I found that chatter about Rock Island interesting, as they still would have been good despite graduating 8 seniors...
if they had simply had their return post player Denzel McCauley...
Anyone recall the 6-8 Rock Island kid that absolutely dominated Centralia with 17 rebounds and 2 blocks in ther Championship game?
He also had 14 pts, 9 rebs, 3 blk in the semi against Chicago Brooks - in just 15 minutes of playing time!
but he has apparently transferred to a school in South Bend
Taphorn put on a clinic in the 1st half against Alton tonight.
14 points on 5-6 from the field.
FWO asked me if he plays like Kyle Singler; great comparison.
High bb IQ (sometimes he should be more selfish) and very smooth
Also, Alec Peters from Washington played phenominal against Aurora West.
Only a JR, he's a player who could develop into a mid-major prospect.
