"Not that I fully expect us to be the top 3 contending teams for the Valley next season, but if we are, WE is a guy that could be key to winning the Valley"

Wow, what ever you're drinkin' pass me some. I would be happy if we could get back to our usual mediocrity this year (4th or 5th place) and even that is probably a stretch. You have to walk before you can run, a 4th or 5th place in the valley would at least be a step in the right direction. At least we have the "rebuilding year" excuse this year. Oh and now we have the injury excuse too.

If it does anything, it shows what all sensible people were saying; coaches are judged on whether they win or not. Injuries happen. They are not a mitigating factor. People on this board attempted to excuse the staff for failure (laughably over multiple years).

ALL coaches must deal with situations like this, some of those are better able to than others. Clearly Jim Les wasn't very good at assembling teams with the requisite depth to handle normal attrition.

Well said. I'm confident that Geno will overcome and field a very competitive new team that Bradley fans can be proud of.

Did Wichita State leave the conference? lol:

It basically takes 2 years to fully return from an ACL unless you are Wes Welker. It takes a year to get to 100% physically and another year to trust the knee. Hopefully he heals well, but it would be very surprising for a return next season.

Some of you really need to read every word of posts.

"Not that I fully expect" implies that I don't expect us to be a Top 3 team.
I then added that if we happen to find ourselves in contention as the Valley season progresses (anything can happen - even Drake 3 seasons ago surprised the country), Will (that's Will EGOLF to make myself clear) would be someone we could use to match other top Valley teams.

Maybe the "I fully expect to be a Top 3 team" and "to winning the Valley" threw some of you off.

Just for the record, I am predicting us to finish #5 if WE can't play.

I thought it was possible for us to become a top 3 team with WE, but it was not a given. It would be hard, and I would assume 4 or 5 was more likely. I'm still thinking top 5 is not unrealistic even without Will, but it will be much harder.

I wish Will the best, and hope he has a quick recovery. This means there will be a lot more pressure on guys like JP and AT, as well as our freshman like Hodges and Shayok. The one thing I will say is that, while losing a key player is a huge set back for this team, it isn't like losing TB last year, because at least we have other players who can fill WE's role on the team.

Well I just don't think WE has shown he is a big enough difference maker to decide winning something? IMO

                  With WE 2nd w/o 3rd

and im at work so I have to read faster than my ability level.

                    Normal. Wow...

Got to love a Butler fan coming on here and saying what's normal...

Disagree. The injury issues that have affected Bradley over the past 5 years have not been anything close to "normal" or average attrition. I doubt anyone can find many other programs that have had major season-ending injuries to key players as much as Bradley has for as many years as we have. And if there are other midmajors who have had anywhere close to similar injury problems, they weren't excelling or getting NCAA bids.

Even my non-Bradley-fan colleagues just have to shake their heads at the BU injury luck.

                          Just check the stats.

Last year for MSU, Kyle Weems, Jermaine Mallett, Will Creekmore, Adam Leonard, Nafis Ricks, and Nathan Scheer all played 35 games.

In 2009-2010, UNI saw Adam Koch, Kwadzo Ahelegbe, Ali Farokhmanesh, Lucas O’ Rear, Jake Koch, Kerwin Dunham, and Marc Sonnen all play in 35 games…while Jordan Eglseder and Johnny Moran both played at least 32.

Two years ago when UNI took the title, Adam Kock, Kwadzo Ahelegbe, Ali Farokhmanesh, Jordan Eglseder, Johnny Moran, Kerwin Dunham, and Travis Brown all played all 34 games.

When Drake won it. Adam Emmenecker, Brent Heemskerk, Leonard Houston, Klayton Korver, and Jonathan Cox all played in all 33 games. And Josh Young played 30.

And I'm sure I could go on and on, but I'll just give you Creighton in 2007. Josh Dotzler did miss seven games, but Nate Funk, Anthony Tolliver, Dane Watts, Nick Bahe, Nick Porter, and Isacc Miles all played 33 games.

How would Butler have done without Mack (SM) and Howard (TB) ?????

I was in the "fire Les" camp and can still easily admit he had terrible, absolutely terrible luck in the injury department. There were other reasons for my attendance in the "fire Les" camp, but bad luck over the injuries isn't one of them.

I know a lot of people thought Les was somewhat responsible for the injury problems at Bradley, this shows it can happen at any time and no one is to blame, that being said I believe we have enough talent to over come this one injury and move on to putting together a better game plan and winning games, no doubt Will"s injury hurts the team but with it happening before the season it gives the staff more time to decide on what changes to make in order to give the team a better chance at being successful.
Hope Will recovers from this as I was looking forward to watching him this season but that appears that it won"t be happening.
