Many know who Oscar Schmidt is -- he's the Brazilian basketball great who led his Brazilian teams to victory over American teams - specifically in the 1987 Pan American Games and he also starred in the 1988 Olympics (the games were lost to the Russians with Hersey Hawkins) -- and Oscar was a friend and frequent teammate of Bradley great Marcel De Souza
In those 1988 Olympics -- Oscar scored a total of 338 points for a 42.3 points per game average.
Oscar is currently in the news having been just recently diagnosed with a serious illness--
they say the tumor is benign and that the 53 year old star will likely recover...
