  • Wichita State didn't really win the NIT?

NBC Sports writer Mike Miller posted this article yesterday about the Oregon Ducks and Coach Dana Altman-
Another year, another Oregon puzzle for Altman to piece together

But proof that even the major network sportswriters sometimes don't know what they are talking about- in his first line he states-
Oregon loses its leading scorer and two starting guards from its 21-18 squad that won the NIT. Yet, I can’t help but think the Ducks might actually be better in 2011-12.
At the least, they’ll be interesting.

The Wichita State Shockers might object to that statement, since they beat Alabama back on March 31 to win the 2011 NIT. Oregon was not even invited to the NIT.
Oregon did win the 2011 CBI tournment, playing and winning 5 games on their home court. But is it really that hard to get it right?

There is a huge difference in talent that plays in the NIT and CBI. Horrible journalism.

        not a typo -- it's an uninformed journalist --

speaking of Dana Altman -- he just picked up a transfer -- a kid from Louisiana Tech who was ...
impressed .."by Oregon’s championship in the College Basketball Invitational"

Now Dana has enough players and is looking to take the summer tour to Italy

There wasn't a single team in the CBI that deserved to be in the NCAA's. There were at least 4 teams in the NIT that SHOULD have been in, and maybe 5-6 teams based on performance. Colorado, Virginia Tech, Missouri State, and Washington should have all gone to the dance.

The CBI's winner had a sub .500 record going into the tournament. Thats sort of a joke.
