If there's ever a color for us to use, it should be red. Most of the blue hairs that might normally refuse to don a $2 white T will probably be wearing their red BU sweaters anyway. I just think red looks more bold and it is the prominent BU school color.

And as for the NBA's "color out" crowds.....to that I say, meh. Just bring the noise!

I like them, it unites the crowd and makes them look cool. I even liked the blackout for Bradley. I will say a lot of people at Bradley games when there is not a color out where colors like green or something not Bradley related which bugs me. How is a color out any less cool than that? Wear Bradley colors to the game though, look at Illini crowds, they all wear orange.

BUF14, I'll bet you and I both are fans that make noise and we both love a rocking arena when we're watching our Braves. So please don't take this as I'm picking on you. I'm not.

But ask yourself, do they ever need to put 16,600 orange t shirts in Assembly Hall? Do the STL Cardinals do "red outs"?

To all the other posters- Is it just me, or am I the only one that feels like our piped in music, excessively long players intros, and white/black/red out T shirts make us look a bit corny? Like we need that stuff to get us excited about our program? When there's good basketball, even mediocre (or last place MVC) basketball, we still support our team better than over 75% of D-1 programs. I find the theatrics a bit much and I know I can't be the only one. It makes us look a little bush league IMHO.

Let Vroman and the band do their thing, give us some good hoops, and Carver will rock, with or without free t shirts.

how does getting hype make us look BUSH league???????????????????

getting hype once again shows that our fan base is one step above the rest.

being in the top 60 in attendance shows that we are fing sweet.

i don't see how being normal would make us worse than what we are?

I don't agree. Marketing 101. Promote your product and attract as much attention as you can.

Never seen a stripe out, we should do a stripe out for Michigan and the students should do a card trick! haha
... At the end, of the storm, there's a golden sky. And the sweet silver song of the lark. Walk on, through the wind, walk on, through the rain, though your dreams be tossed, and blown. Walk on, Walk on with hope in your hearts, and you'll never walk alone!

Michigan State, the premier midwestern program, regularly does white-outs, has modern music, produces player intros (like the players like, btw), etc. Do they look corny or cheesy? Like it or not, intros, promotions, and music not from the 50's are here to stay, BU does it because that's what big time programs do, and we want to be big time. OSU, U of I, Mizzou, IU, and Purdue (BCS home games I have attended in the last 5-6 years), all do similar things and nothing is Bush league about them.

Because kids have the attention span of a gnat these days. Also, the majority of the fan base is baby boomers. That is not meant to be a shot at anyone, but eventually they wont be there anymore. I know people get on them for not cheering yadda yadda yadda, but in all honesty, it really is marketing 101. They arent going to be around forever and you need something to spark the interests of younger minds to come watch basketball. And in case you havent noticed, there hasnt really been a quality product on the floor the past couple seasons to let the basketball do the talking on its own.

And for once i agree with AMCKillip, if its not too good for Michigan St., a team with 2 national championships and numerous final four appearances, then it should be good enough for Bradley.

Exhibit A in support for your argument, Student Attendance. I'm pretty sure the NBA does everything you listed anacona, and they're professionals. Is the NBA Bush League? I'm not a fan of the NBA, but that's one of the Big 4 US Sports.

You all make good points, and this was good dialogue. Seriously. But answer this, does Michigan St. get more butts in the seats b/c of cool promos, white outs, ect?

We've done more promotions like this in the past 2-4 years than ever before. What's our attendance level been doing during that time frame? How bout' crowd noise? I'm not saying don't do anything, that would be foolish. The styling of it is just personal preference, and it's not my preference but I'm one guy.

Jirish touched on it, and I'll elaborate to the conclusion of the matter. I do agree we need to promote. And there are 100's of ways to do that, and to please everyone is impossible. But of all the promos you could dream up, the product on the floor is key, and I'm optimistic (shoot, I'm always optimistic this time of year) that we're going to have product on the court that will be our most effective promo to get the one thing I know all of us can agree on........a loud arena of BU fans.

yeah a good product on the floor is default.

but there is nothing IMO wrong with having player intros and whiteouts....
