  • BU 2011-2012 schedule news

    In the Dave Reynolds article about Taylor Brown was a brief note about the 2011-2012 schedule. The Michigan game is set for Dec. 22, 2011. And the schedule for the Chicago Invitational Classic is set. Bradley will play home games against UMKC and Wofford, and play Wisconsin in the first game in Chicago. Then, depending on who wins and loses, the second game will be against either BYU or Nevada.
    Also, there is a new game on the schedule at George Washington University Dec. 13, and 3 home games (dates not set) against SEMO, North Dakota, and Northeastern, in addition to the previously scheduled game at Wyoming (corrected) home games against Western Carolina. -

    The MVC-MWC Game is at Wyoming

    To be clear, the Wyoming game is at Wyoming. We'll have a complete schedule posted on BradleyBraves.com once the contracts are signed, sealed and delivered.

      The article says that Michigan made the sweet 16. Didn't they lose to Duke in the first weekend of the tournament? I don't have my bracket handy, but I thought they lost to Duke in which they gave the Blue Devils a late run, but came up short.

        That's quite the overall schedule. I know a lot of this was likely in place before Geno (without turning this into a debate, I appreciate the scheduling done beforehand as well), but it seems like Geno & Staff are working some great games into this.

        Sure there are some "cupcakes" (though after EIU, I'll be taking those games more seriously now), but Michigan, Wisconsin, BYU/Nevada, Wyoming, Wofford, Drexel, GWU, and Western Carolina. Those all seem like good, tough, games.

            You're correct - Michigan did NOT make it to the Sweet 16, as they fell short and lost a close one to Duke in the 2nd (make that, the 3rd round - since there are those 2 play-in games that conform the "1st round" ) )

              I love starting series with both an A-10 school (G-Dub) and a CAA school (N'eastern).

                That sounds like 12 non-con games (not including the bracketbuster), plus 18 conference games to make a total of 30. Is BU not participating in the bracketbuster this year or does the exempt tourney allow them to play 31?

                UMKC Nov. 13th
                Wofford Nov. 22nd
                Wisc* Nov. 25th
                BYU/Nevada* Nov. 26th
                @Wyoming Dec. 3rd
                @George Wash. Dec. 13th
                @Drexel Dec. 15th
                @Mich Dec. 22nd
                Western Carolina
                SEMO
                North Dakota
                Northeastern
                Bracketbuster???

                  Thanks for the correction-

                  One other part of Dave Reynolds' article that is noteworthy is this statement-

                  Also, the season opener has been set for Nov. 13 at Carver against UMKC (16-14, sixth in the Summit last year). That matchup is one of the two exempt home games linked to the Thanksgiving weekend Chicago Challenge Invitational.

                  So apparently, the first game of the season will be the opening game of the Chicago Invitational Challenge against UMKC and it will be played at Carver Arena. There is no mention of a game at the Bradley Renaissance Center, but one of the remaining home non-conference games that "are not yet finalized" (SEMO, North Dakota, or Northeastern) or the WCU game could still possibly be played there. It would just not be the first home game.

                  From the reports so far, this is how the non-conference part of the schedule is beginning to look.-

                  Nov. 13 home vs. UMKC
                  Nov. 22 home vs. Wofford
                  Nov. 25 vs. Wisconsin at the Chicago Invitational Challenge - Sears Center in Hoffman Estates
                  Nov. 26 BYU or Nevada at the Chicago Invitational Challenge - Sears Center in Hoffman Estates
                  Dec. 3 at Wyoming
                  Dec. 13 at George Washington University
                  Dec. 15 at Drexel
                  Dec. 20 home vs. Western Carolina University
                  Dec. 22 at Michigan

                  other home games not yet finalized-
                  vs. Southeastern Missouri State
                  vs. North Dakota University
                  vs. Northeastern

                  It seems likely that the SEMO game and the North Dakota game are guarantee "buy" home games. But the Northeastern and WCU games may be part of a home and home?

                    I think this year's WCU game is the last game on the original 3-game series.

                    I'm *guessing* we're home-and-homeing with N'eastern and looking to pair a trip to Boston next year with another east coast game, just like we're going this year with GW.

                      I didn't remember that the original WCU series was 3 games. Was it? I thought it was a home and home.

                        I always thought it was a 2-for-1 but I can't find definitive word anywhere. In any case, if it was home and home, I'd think it's unusual to continue the series.

                          I would think one of those 3 unconfirmed games are not happening unless BU is not participating in the bracketbuster and I don't see that happening.

                            I like the schedule a lot! We have an A10, CAA, 2 B10 schools, possibly 2 MWC schools on our schedule. not bad. Would be nice to have a marquee home game, but we will have one next year so I can live with it. WCU and Wofford should be decent games at home.

                              The exempt tourney allows them 31 games prior to the MVC tourney. I just checked Duke's schedule last year and they played 31 games prior to ACC tourney. They had 4 games as part of an exempt tourney during the early part of the season. So, I think BU can still play in the Bracketbuster event.
