  • New 2011 NCAA Academic data

the full report will be out soon but some facts are already leaked and some specific reports have already been issued...

But here are some facts that are leaking out..
UConn's numbers are absolutely terrible -- so they are losing scholarships..
their Graduation rates are under 30% and their Federal Graduation rate is about 10%

Bradley has multiple teams that are at 100% on GSR...and basketball is over 90%

Among Valley schools, Bradley & Creighton are again at the top of the Valley and you-know-who is at the bottom...

ex-Houston coach Tom Penders seems to be griping about the NCAA data an awful lot..
Your source for breaking news, news about New York, sports, business, entertainment, opinion, real estate, culture, fashion, and more.

I guess this makes me laugh a bit because now that NCAA keeps a record of academic data and allows you to sort by the head coach...
we see that Tom Penders was one of the worst coaches in D-I history in regards to academic data and graduation success. And he can't blame players leaving early for the NBA since he didn't have any!

Here's Penders' data....only once in the six years that data was tabulated on Penders - did he even make it to the Bare minimum standard of 924... and the other 5 seasons he was terrible and in the bottom 2-3 percentiles.

    Coach Tom Penders
    Sport Men's Basketball

Year Single-Year APR Institution Start Date End Date
    2003-04 915 University of Houston Mar 2004 Mar 2010

The full searchable database is all updated and online...
        HERE

Here's the new APR numbers for the Valley basketball teams...
all did pretty well except the one we knew about -- Missouri State who loses scholarships as a result..

        Bradley -- 961
        Creighton -- 960
        Drake -- 972
        Evansville -- 957
        ISU -- 964
        InSU -- 944
        UNI -- 966
        Missouri State -- 896
        SIU -- 945
        Wichita -- 955

        In the entire Valley --
17 teams get perfect 1000's -- FOUR of those teams are Bradley's (Mens CC, Womens CC, Womens Golf, Womens Tennis)
and only THREE teams among all Valley sports get failing numbers (under 925)...
Missouri State basketball as noted above - 896
        UNI CC 885
        SIU Tennis 919

Five basketball teams did so poorly they get post-season bans...
Cal-State Northridge; Chicago State; Grambling; Southern University, Baton Rouge; and Louisiana-Monroe.

Among Big Ten basketball programs -- Penn State was way out ahead and right at the tops with the latest data..
....Ed DeChellis was never given his due.......
Illinois is in the middle of the pack and Indiana is last among Big Ten schools.
