  • TCU transfer Nikola Cerina lands at Northwestern

Nikola Cerina, the 6'9", 245 pound transfer from TCU that worked out at Bradley has decided to transfer to Northwestern. As we reported, Bradley decided not to offer him a scholarship spot.

Northwestern has a fellow Serb on their roster in Luka Mirkovic. They also have a Croatian player and a Croatian assistant coach, so Cerina will probably feel like he's back playing in Europe.

Cerina is in the news at Northwestern - http://www.csnchicago.com/big-ten/ce...-dust-buckeyes

they are extremely weak in the frontcourt so this really hurts as Northwestern head into this weekend's game vs. Indiana - trying to avoid a 5-game losing streak that has killed their post-season chances...

Cerina doesn't play much- averages 9 minutes a game, 1 ppg, and 1.5 rpg. They'll be OK if he misses a game.
Northwestern had a few surprising wins, in early Big Ten action, but they have now lost 4 in a row, and have fallen to within 1 game of last place in the Big Ten at 5-9. After some initial optimism that they might be able to get their first ever NCAA bid, or at least an NIT bid this year, their record is now the worst overall record in the Big Ten at 12-15 with virtually no chance of a postseason bid this year.
