  • O.K. amckillip - here it is!

    Hello fellow Braves junkies!

I figured since Geno just filled the last scholie for 11-12 (as it currently sits), I figured I would take the proverbial plunge and post.............I've "stalked" you all long enough.

While my 'single' post pales in comparison to the >18k of Da Coach, and even the mere >2,800 of amckillip, I can only hope my sporadic posts will add a hint of value and/or insight to a board already full of knowledgeable BU followers.

I have several milk jugs full of pennies, as each time I considered logging in to post, I chose to drop another $.02 into the jug - it's time to cash in.............as I promised amckillip I would do.

I would also like to note that my optimism for the program is at an all time high with the recent hiring of Geno Ford, and the recruiting efforts that have come since. That being said, I am currently trying to determine if it's just my nature to feel that way...................I am, ironically enough, a Cub fan!

    Til my next post.......

... At the end, of the storm, there's a golden sky. And the sweet silver song of the lark. Walk on, through the wind, walk on, through the rain, though your dreams be tossed, and blown. Walk on, Walk on with hope in your hearts, and you'll never walk alone!

Welcome BUJunkie. Glad to have another Cub fan aboard. Maybe just maybe the guy in my avatar will be a Cub next year? He certainly has a friend in the Cubs organization......

Take him....it's what makes the cubs the cubs. They have a culture of drastically overpaying for players and for way too many years. Cubs fans are right...Pujols would make a good fit as a cub at 300 million for 10 years. It can't be denied, look at soriano and fukodome

The Cardinals freak out when Brendan Ryan is batting .220 and making $550,000.

Cubs fans see is as normal when Carlos Pena is batting .200 and making $10,000,000.

I'll take him... Agree.. I wouldn't give Pujols a 10 year deal, but I would give him one h*** of an 8 year deal! A deal that the Cardinals couldn't touch if they let him go.

...and I still don't know what the Cubs saw in Fukudome

                              Really?

OK fellas...................comparing Albert Pujols with Alfonzo Soriano OR Kosuke Fukudome is like comparing Michael Jordan to Anthony Parker.

NOW - I LOVE me some AP, don't get me wrong, but lets be realistic here! That being said, I DO NOT want Pujols should it mean another "Soriano like" contract, however, I would go 8 yrs..........and we have the $$$ to front load and wouldn't need to rely on defering the bulk (although, it seems to be the norm).

The way I see it - it will only take one of those shiny gold trophies with the little wavy flags on top to make a pretty darn good ROI! And.......Pujols in year 5 or 6.....or maybe even 8 of that long-term deal, is STILL more productive than Soriano OR Fukudome in any year of their existing contracts.

                              NO comparison!
