No matter how any fan felt about the coaching change, this is what being a fan is about. I hope we can all support this team, and the new coach, and lets surprise everyone next year!

Here are some of the better links for info about Shayok Shayok- many fans here might have seen some of these from the thread we have had on the recruiting board for some time-

Under Armour builds game-changing sportswear, athletic shirts, shoes and more. FREE SHIPPING available and FREE returns on workout clothes, shoes, and gear.

Shayok Shayok was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario. His parents are from Africa. He played at St. Patrick HS in Ottawa, then transferred to Julian HS in Chicago. He had problems with eligibility there and his play was limited. He was going to play at the Boys to Men Academy that was run by Loren Jackson his former coach at Julian, but they closed down the program. He transferred to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida this past year, and averaged 18 ppg and 10 rpg playing against some of the top prep school competetion in the country..

I hope we are, but based on comments from most posters, the feeling at least leading up to this point has been that we're hopeful to be middle of the pack this year, with better things on the horizon.

I'm more than willing to change my expectations to competing for a chamionship this year, who's with me?

I'd like to think BU competes for the MVC MBB Championship and the MVC Tournament Championship every year!

Of course, some years the odds are better than others!

His younger brother is also a fine player. He still plays for St. Patrick's HS in Ottawa, Ontario (Shayok Shayok's high school), and is a very high scoring guard.
                Marial Shayok- class of 2013-

He is the #1 ranked 2013 shooting guard among high school players in Canada-

Every year the team should have expectations of winning championships , good teams expect to win period, no doubt after finishing last a lot of people will not believe this team will finish top 5 , last years team lost a lot of close games and had very little depth , this years team appears to have a lot more depth which should at least give them a better chance at winning more games, we will be very young yet we will still have enough experienced players to give us a decent chance of finishing in the top half.

I think it's safe to say that Eastman won't be playing any more time at the 4.

Hopefully Geno can talk Jerome Robinson and James Gillingham into taking a nice little trip over to visit Young Shayok. Possibly to discuss the merits of Canadian guards attending Bradley University

Shayok Shayok is the first player Bradley has ever had from the Ottawa, Ontario area. But they have had a total of 6 Canadians play for them in their history (unless I am missing someone).

Since you mentioned 2 of them, James Gillingham and Jerome Robinson, I'll ask these couple trivia questions that check the memory of Bradley fans-

Who was the most recent Canadian to play at Bradley?

Who was the first Canadian player recruited to Bradley?

Can anyone name the other Canadians beside Jerome Robinson, James Gillingham, and the 2 players above?

Bingo. David Collins came to Bradley from Missouri State-West Plains Community College in Missouri, but he grew up in Toronto, and prepped at Emery Collegiate Institute in Toronto. In 2004 he helped lead his team to the Ontario 3AAA championship. At West Plains CC he averaged 8.5 ppg and 6.9 rpg his sophomore season (2006-2007). He was Jim Les' only Canadian recruit and played from 2007-2009. He just finished his season playing in Europe for ENAD, a professional team in Cyprus.
His team finished out of the playoffs, but David had a good year averaging 9.8 ppg, 6.6 rpg, and 1.8 blocks per game.

I like our recruiting class very much and think we are headed in the right direction. My hope is that Coach can do what he did last year and take a team with only 3 returning players and win the conference. We have a strong returning group of players with TB, DSE, WE and JP. The opportunity is there.
