  • Corey Hawkins transfers to UC Davis

Az Republic reported this morning that Az State Fr Guard Corey Hawkins, Hersey's son, has informed MBB Coach Sendek he will transfer. No real reasons given by Corey....Playing time? New recruits brought in? Relationship with Sendek? Corey didn't indicate where he is interested in going.

Will Hawkins have any interest in BU, and vice versa?
Or, possibly try and land at UC-Davis with JL?

The UC Davis connection sounds more likely. His dad now lives in Portland, which is a lot close to Davis, CA, than Peoria.

The coaching staff appears to really want Corey Hawkins to stay at Arizona State....

      More .. and More

BUT -- I just can't see Corey getting any playing time there at Arizona State just as clearly Brandon Dunson wasn't going to get any either -- those guys were offered as fall back options and Sendek felt he did better with his other signees so those guys simply never got a chance.
sendek seems to have a really big problem with player dissatisfaction -- he's lost 8 players to transfer out in the past 2.5 seasons (Coy, English, Dunson, Walker, Rudd, Thompson, Rhode, Hawkins)

      UC-Davis is the likely destination.

          Thanks for posting!
Corey has officially decided to transfer to UC Davis and play for Coach Les. He will have to sit out this coming season, and will have 3 more years of eligibility starting in 2012-2013.

What a great get for JL! They now have a Les and Hawkins back court...That should be fun for both families.

As someone who sees many ASU games during the Winter I was looking forward to seeing Corey progress there. But happy for Coach Les to be able to reunite with the Hawk and his son. Good luck Jim and Corey. Sure the Hawk is happy to see his son is going to be coached by a good friend.

Hersey's wife and Corey's mom had this to say about her son's verbal to UC-Davis...(in a tweet)

He seems very Milos-esque. I'd like to see how he stacks up against someone other than slow white kids from Utah. Fortunately, he'll be playing in a low D-1 conference and may have a better career than our Milos.

I did not bother looking at the video but Coach Corn knows his players and I'll trust his judgement. The kid has a motor says a lot to me.

I think your thinking of Harris SFP; I'm sure he's a stud. I'm talking about Ott from Utah. I don't think Corn has anything to do with this kid.
