Why is all the BU basketball information been so slow to get on the official BU website? Still no official release on the Devon Hodges signing. It took forever to get the news of the hiring of assistants out as well. Given the significance of BU basketball I would think getting major information like this out would be a priority.

I can answer the issue about the assistant coaches. Often an assistant will be offered the job and accept it, but it can then take time before contracts can be drawn up, reviewed by lawyers, and signed. I believe Bradley usually has a policy of waiting until all these things are completed before they post their official announcement, which can be days after the word of the hiring gets out.
There are other reasons to delay the official announcement, and some relate to recruiting and contacts with recruits, but I have no reason to believe that applies to Bradley's situation.

I understand the delay with the assistants but when you have a signed letter of intent from a recruit the information should be out that day or the next. Hodges signed on May 7, 4 days ago. Not a mention of it on the BU website. He is listed on the roster but no official release from BU.

I think it would be a little more fair to compare Bradley with other similar Universities, rather than to pick a professional baseball organization with an office full of full-time paid staffers who's only job is to promote 1 single team and with no controlling authority like the NCAA looking over their shoulder with thousands of rules.

I dunno. Bradley Braves basketball is considerably bigger business than the Chiefs, in my opinion. I think their support staff should be at worst comparable.

I think the Peoria Chiefs staff would beg to differ on the size and pay of their staff compared to the Bradley AD.
I do think that is a good idea though. I am sure the email system is run through the ticket scanners (if it only sends emails for games attended), so anything like that would have to go through the PCC.
I am sure Bradley has an email list somewhere of season ticket holders. Probably comes in handy for situations like the Creighton game.

The reason I asked is I work in PR locally and it was always critical to our business (racing) to get information out ASAP. Our results go out within 24 hours to the local media. Maybe Parker is gone or something but I really don't feel it should take 4 days to get a press release sent over something as big as adding a new player. I understand BU has many sports, but basketball is king in Peoria and information should be sent out in a timely manner. I just find it odd BU adds Hodges to the roster but doesn't acknowledge the signing at all. I'm just sayin'...

I got a communication from the Bradley athletic department. They became aware that this question was raised by fans on our board, and they wanted to get an answer out.
Here is Bobby Parker's response-
It is uncommon for recruits to both verbally commit and sign their NLI on the same day. In Devon’s case, he verbally committed at the end of his visit, took the NLI home, where he signed it and faxed it back that night (recruits are not allowed to sign NLI’s on campus). Due to the timing, the receipt of the verified NLI did not happen until the next day. By that time, the news of his commitment had been widely reported. NCAA rules prevent schools from making more than one announcement of a signing. By the letter of the law, that announcement basically happened at Saturday’s baseball game when I received notification of the receipt of the NLI with Dave sitting next to me in the press box. Although I probably could have also posted a release without generating an investigation, I simply confirmed the widely reported news and added him to the roster (with a bio).
Makes sense to me. Because of the timing of everything, and the quick and excellent coverage by the PJ Star, it sounds like Bobby didn't want the NCAA thinking Bradley was going over the line with releasing another announcement on the website after the news was already widely circulated. As I suspected, they are always cautious when it comes to anything the NCAA can think might be a violation of some dopey rule.
Bobby also responded that the delays in releasing official information about the hiring of the assistant coaches was pretty much as I posted above-
