  • Recruit visiting Bradley campus today (5/10)

Nikola Cerina (pronounced Cher-na) is visiting Bradley's campus today. He played the last 2 seasons at TCU for Coach Jim Christian (formerly Geno Ford's boss at Kent State). He has left TCU and is looking for a school to transfer to. We don't know what other schools he is interested in but he is interested in Bradley for several reasons- playing time (Bradley doesn't have anyone his size, 6'9", 245 lbs, and a couple of our big men will be in their final seasons this year), and also because of the coaching staff and the facilites at BU.

    More about Nikola-

Here is more from a thread on the recruiting board-

check out the video of Nikola in the 3rd post in that thread.

Incidentally, Nikola played against Bradley back on Nov. 21, 2010 in a game in Springfield, Massachusetts in the Hall of Fame Tip-off Classic.

    Nikola Cerina's stats-

    game log-

That looks like one of his 2 rebounds in 6 minutes he got against us.

Seriously though, I'm all for the pickup if we make it. I also really am interested in Crider.

FTR, he has averaged 4.1 rebounds per game in only 20 minutes of playing time. Bradley has only 1 player returning who exceeds that.

Let's get MC and NC to go along with JC as Geno's recruits.

Agreed! I think he'll be a huge benefit.

A transfer along with a redshirt (Nate Wells) would start the roster off with only 11 available guys next season. If he is worth it, you go for it.

If I had to choose between Crider and Cerina, I'd pick Crider. I actually really like both guys and would love to have both, but that means one more player would have to leave or at least give up his scholarship. There is one good candidate for that, but who knows...

I'm ok with this, especially because NW can be "un-redshirted" at any time if we have more injury issues.

You make some great points Da Coach as to why this guy would want to come here. I honestly can't see why he wouldn't want to sign with BU. This would be a good get for BU as it would allow us to compete with WSU and CU's big men. Crider may be the bigger talent but Cerina would fill the bigger need.

Hopefully it's not an either or. They both bring a lot we need. I have to say if it came down to one or the other I am 100% on the side of taking Crider if we can get him. He has the potential to develop into a star. I think Cerina could fill a big rebounding weakness, but I'll go for a potential scorer instead.

I'd almost always go for bigger talent over bigger need anyway. And, once TB graduates, Crider becomes the bigger need also, I think. I would take both if I could get them, but from my uninformed point of view Crider would be my preference. All that said, I'd be ecstatic to get Cerina here...

So we definitely can't get both then? What are the rules for a transfer player? Do they still take up a scholarship even though they sit out a year? I'm assuming yes...

if they want to pay their own way they won't take a scholarship

but that won't happen so of course they will need a scholarship if they transfer here
