  • Some actual measurements from the NBA combine

Here are some actual measurements -- and true heights and weights

Josh Harrelson from Kentuckly billed as 6-10 -- is actually 6' 8.5"
6'11" Ralph Sampson III is really just 6' 9.5"
    John Shurna is a legit 6' 8.5"

Ashton Gibbs - 6'0. Ouch! They were saying he was to small for an NBA SG at 6'2, but measuring at 6'0 flat will probably knock him out of the draft. I hope he's smart enough to stay in school and work on his ballhandling skills.

Looks like that is exactly what scouts told him, as he already decided to return to Pitt-
Ashton Gibbs will return to Pitt
Pittsburgh guard Ashton Gibbs will withdraw from the NBA draft and return to school for his senior year, the school announced Saturday.

another guy that is hurt by attending the combine and having himself measured accurately is Northern Illinois' Xavier Silas. The Northern Illinois roster has always listed him at 6'5", a nice size for an NBA shooting guard. But at the combine he only measured 6'3.5".

Wow, my bad, I missed that.

I always love reading the actual measurements. My favorite was last year, Luke Harangody who was always listed between 6'8 and 6'9, measured at 6'6. There also was a PG a few years ago from a mid-major who was listed at 6'1 but measured at 5'10 1/2. Other times, players measure as they are listed (Tyler Hansbrough was an inch TALLER than listed if I recall).
