Academics are apparently so bad at Toledo -- that NCAA has imposed a reduction of three scholarships for next year and they already had 11 under scholarship -- so they were forced to actually take one kid's scholarship away and he has now left school.

Toledo forced to drop player when NCAA takes away 3 scholarships

That article kindly omits the fact that the poor grades situation is the fault of the last 2 coaches at Toledo, Gene Cross and Stan Joplin.
The player who is forced to leave because of the shortage of scholarships is 6'8" Hayden Humes, who, ironically, was one of the better students on the team. He already burned a redshirt season in 2009-2010 with a knee injury, and averaged 5.7 ppg and 5.1 rpg last season.
It is possible that the NCAA may issue a waiver for Humes so he could transfer and be eligible to play elsewhere immediately.
Anyone know a school with extra scholarships?

Hayden Humes who left Toledo because academic problems caused a scholarship shortage, has transferred to UIC.-

It sounds like UIC will appeal to the NCAA for a hardship waiver so Humes can play immediately.
