    Purdue's schedule is taking shape -- http://www.purduesports.com/sports/m...kbl-sched.html

but what's interesting about it ... is that University of Southern Indiana head coach Rodney Watson is heading into his 3rd year there as head coach of USI,
and for the third year in a row he will have an early season game against a D-I squad coached by one of his former bosses...

This year it is Matt Painter who was head coach at SIU while Watson was assistant,
last year USI played at Illinois - Bruce Weber was also head coach at SIU while Watson was there,
and in 2009-2010 USI played SIU and Watson faced his most recent boss Chris Lowery.

UConn announces their non-conference schedule -- would any of you pay to see this mish-mash of hapless cupcakes??

Only two scheduled schools above the low-major level and both are going to be way down this year..and only one road game

      Nov. 17 Maine
      Nov. 20 Coppin State
Nov. 24-26 Battle 4 Atlantis (Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas)
UConn, Harvard, Florida State, Utah, Massachusetts,
Central Florida, College of Charleston, UNC - Asheville

Dec. 3 Arkansas (should be way down this year)
      Dec. 7 Harvard
      Dec. 18 Holy Cross
      Dec. 22 Fairfield
Jan. 21 at Tennessee (way, way down)

definitely a boring non-con schedule for the paying fan, but also the luxory of being in the big east where you will no doubt have enough chances in conference to prove yourself.

Looking at the valley schedules this year so far, at least what is confirmed, we will have plenty of chances against good teams up and down the conference to prove our worth.

Creighton: @UAB, Iowa, @San Diego St., Nebraska, @Tulsa, Northwestern

BU: Wisc., BYU or Nevada, @Mich., @George Washington (usually solid RPI)

Drake: Iowa St., Mississippi, Possibly Virginia or TCU, @Iowa

        Evansville: Butler, Indiana, TCU, @UNC

Illinois St.: Rutgers, Richmond or Illinois

Indiana St.: Old Spice Classic (Arizona St., DePaul, Dayton, Minnesota, Texas Tech, Fairfield, Wake Forest), @ Vandy

Missouri St.: @Nevada, Tulsa, @Oral Roberts (usually good), @ New Mexico, Oklahoma St., Las Vegas Classic (West Virginia, Baylor, St. Mary's)

Northern Iowa: @ODU, Providence, @ Iowa St., Colorado St., Iowa

Southern Illinois: Saint Louis, Western Kentucky, @Western Mich (should be good next year), Diamondhead Classic (Kansas State, Clemson, Hawaii, Xavier, UTEP, Long Beach St., Auburn)

Wichita St.: Puerto Rico Tip-Off (Purdue, Alabama, Colorado, Maryland, Iona, Temple and Western Mich.), UAB, UNLV, Utah St., @Tulsa

UConn's sked is terribad. And I think they got stuck with Arky on the Big East/SEC challenge thingy. A bit unlucky there. And Tenneseee is an ongoing series that obviously lost value. And they got unlucky the Bahamas tourney is so bad. And Harvard/Holy Cross/Fairfield actually isn't a terrible stretch.

          But those first 4 games....yikes.

I would like to be the first to apologize. Our coaching staff is letting everyone down again this year.

I've slammed Jank so hard the past 3 years, I even wonder why I still bother.

                    I'll do it anyways.

Their two true road games are mandated by the MWC challenge and by BB.

                    Good Lord.

And the sad this is, because of Cancun, the schedule is actually an upgrade from the past few years.

The other 8 games, by conference
                    OVC 3
                    MEAC 2
                    Sun Belt 1
                    CAA 1
                    Independent 1

                    *sigh*

NOT DEFENDING JANK AT ALL- I SWEAR...

But the Fresno St. game was not "mandated" by the Challenge b/c its technically not apart of the MVC/MWC challange (Fresno St. is not an official member of the MWC yet or something like that) but the conference talked to the schools and they both agreed to play it anyway... Just an FYI and in NO WAY a defense for anything... PROMISE!

Don't worry nacho. Everyone in the Bradley fanbase has willingly acknowledged that the collective ISU fanbase is as disgusted about this as everyone else. I haven't seen an ISU fan defend their schedule in years. Not one.

So is ISU out of the challenge this year. I had to do a quick recall to remember the MWC is at 8 teams for this year and this year only.

I understand (not to the full extent) how hard scheduling can be in the MVC, but give me a break! Other Valley schools manage to put together a few solid opponents - a couple decent mids in the mix. I don't think people are fearing going in to Redbird Arena in front of 4,000 not-so-noisy fans with the prospect of losing. I would think there would be incentive to play them (a 9th place team last year) because the 'Birds' RPI should be respectable being in the Valley, so a loss wouldn't be devastating to the opponent.

Jank just isn't getting it done schedule-wise. I'm tired of his excuses that it's out of his control. He needs to put more emphasis on this IMO. This is a little better than last year's horrid schedule - I believe they had 5 or 6 - 300+ RPI opponents (from previous year) last year, which is hard to top...or should I say bottom.

The game at Fresno St. supposedly was a deal to guarantee us a home game for the challenge next year.

What sucks for us ISU fans is that we have wait through December for our season to actually start. And yet again, we won't have a clue as to how good this team is until that time.

Going undefeated with that non-con schedule would put us around 150 RPI if we are lucky.

But - barring Rutgers dropping out of the Big East - which many people think they should do - at least ISU gets one sure game vs. a BCS opponent..

Not true. Last year we had a game early that told us we were no good. This year we have a decent measuring stick in Cancun.
