wow, what is going on -- a bar fight just months after crashing his car while drunk....that's at least the 20th McDermott player who has had arrests or suspensions or booted...in fact this is Railey's third time I believe...one was the summer after HS

Railey apparently has a drinking problem. Was drunk and when someone tried to calm him down he took a swing at them and missed. Cops saw it and he was busted. I think Fred should opt to tell him he can take a redshirt year next year and earn his way back or find a new home. This incident itself is not a huge deal, but the multiple drinking related issues for a minor are signs of a bigger problem.

Seriously? I'd be pretty pissed as a fan if one of our guys blatantly did that. Drinking problem + violence = no place on my team.

Not saying that the drinking is the problem, but the guy is obviously a loose cannon. I think ONE incident like that (as we've seen before) would get Peoria wound up and multiple articles written. Deservedly so.

I hope that kid gets his scholarship taken.

The problem is that Railey would likely be the starting ISU Center, and this creates a pretty big depth problem at the 4-5. Vanderbeken and McKnight are gone, Ejim is not a 4 on a good team (although he could be a good 3 on a great team), White hasn't ever played a college game despite being 2 years in, we all saw Booker struggle when he played for SIU...I can't imagine him being much of a force in the Big 12, and Godfrey is a long way from being a productive player.

I bet Railey gets a lifeline due to the depth issue.

Are you sure you aren't confused on Railey and Godfrey? Railey will not start. He hardly got minutes last year even when Vanderbeeken was hurt. Godfrey was coming on like a beast at the end of the year. In the last nine games, Godfrey averaged 10 points and 8 rebounds a game. And Royce White will be a guaranteed starter. Between Ejim, White, Godfrey and Booker, Railey was going to be hard pressed to find minutes before this. And we are not done recruiting for next year yet either.

He was booked on disorderly conduct. Not like he was drunk driving (like he was on his first offense). He is dumb no doubt, but a disorderly conduct charge itself is not a big deal IMO. If you think it is worthy of getting worked up about, I have no problem with that.

More problems at Iowa State -- could this be why most coaches don't take in so many transfers all at once??

Not only is Jordan Railey in trouble and still under suspension after his bar brawl arrest.....

                but two new stories...
-assistant coach at Iowa State arrested - DUI -
-and now transfer/freshman arrested for manufacture & delivery of drugs - Link
