Former Bradley assistant, and current Creighton assistant coach Steve Merfeld has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the open head coaching job at Eastern Michigan. Other candidates reportedly are Todd Lickliter, Dan Hipsher, Rob Murphy, Dwayne Stephens, and Ric Wesley.


Here was a recent article in the Omaha media about Steve Merfeld, and his moment of glory when his 2001 Hampton Pirates team were a #15 seed in the NCAA tournament and upset #2 seed Iowa.-

They actually upset Iowa St., not Iowa. But I don't think Iowa St. has ever recovered since then!
