I designed several mascot themes back when BU was looking for mascot ideas. One of those ideas included Big Cat Pride. Any group of big cats is a "pride". That could be interpreted as lions, mountain lions, panthers, pumas etc. My thought was there would be TWO mascots. One red big cat, one white big cat. I thought it worked both verbally and visually. I think it works with any combination of BU, Braves and/or Pride. BU Pride. BU Braves Pride. Braves Pride. I thought there was interest in the visual idea but I think I made the fatal mistake of not including a written paper describing the project. I visualize one mascot working the student section and the other working the crowd. One working the crowd, one working the visitors. One working the refs, etc .etc. Perhaps different names for the two big cats. "Victory" and "Victorious", "OnceAbrave" and "AwaysAbrave". "Legend" and "Champion". Have a naming contest.

Coupla things...
1.) The nickname never has to change - the athletic teams can always play as the Braves. BU wouldn't have pushed so hard to maintain the nickname when the NCAA went after us years ago, just to give it up to become the Eagles.
2.) No offense to you BU BRVE 2, your photoshop skills are on point - but I do not want any animal to end up being our mascot that does not have a direct tie to the University. A lion? Big cats?
What the hey does that have to do with Bradley University in central Illinois?
I'd rather see a squirrel with one of the freshman beanies on its head, a gargoyle, a clock, or a guy dressed up as one of Lydia's roses than have something that has no history and is a loose interpretation on the word "Brave".
3.) Who ARE all you folks that are suggesting a color change...if there is anyone who on here who deserves to be labeled less of a fan its the folks pushing for a color change .
RED - for courage, strength and might
vs.
Green - "because no one else in the MVC is green"

Possibility number 2 - Ok I'm not sure I'm sold, but is looks a heck of alot better than a bobcat or squirrel.

I don't understand the clock mascot. Seems pretty dumb to me. Squirrel is the same. LOVE the idea for a gargoyle though!... At the end, of the storm, there's a golden sky. And the sweet silver song of the lark. Walk on, through the wind, walk on, through the rain, though your dreams be tossed, and blown. Walk on, Walk on with hope in your hearts, and you'll never walk alone!
I'm behind you 100% Bradley Braves, You'll Never Walk Alone! BEAT STATE!

At least they have a specfic tie to the University.

edit: sorry I'm just shocked that you didn't know that clock thing
On a side note...someone please tell me or show me how in the world a clock could look good as a mascot or be marketable in any way. If we absolutely had to chose something or die right now, for me it'd be the lion thing probably...maybe a squirrel. After all when I was at bradley I voted for the squirrel to be the new mascot....partially as a joke

BTW, I like BU Brve2 logo concept. It may need some tweaking but it is much better than our current logo.Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final
???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

These are the choices I've picked up on so far:
A Clock....
squirrel
gargoyle
some kind of cat thing...with the pride or a lion
Of those I believe the most marketable and most "powerful", if you will, is the lion or the pride stuff. A squirrel is a joke...unless it's a mean BA squirrel. I really can't see how Bradley doesn't get laughed at if a clock is the mascot that is on every athletic hat and t-shirt. A gargoyle I think could be pretty neat but I think it'd be almost too challenging to make it work and be awesome as opposed to kind of awkward looking.
Bring in a real life freakin' lion or two pumas or jaguars haha and set them by the away bench...you've got something there

When I think clock I think of those Disney animated clocks.
