NCAA Championship: Butler/UConn

wow, i actually thought it was an excellently officiated game. The officials let them play. I really wanted Butler to pull it out, but when you can't shoot and you can't rebound, you can't really win. I felt Butler seriously over-relied on the 3 point shot, especially considering they got UConn's big men in some foul trouble early. IMO that's the point where you drive, drive, drive. Who cares if they block some, they will put you to the line plenty.
then again, Butler couldn't really shoot free throws that well, either.

Letting them play is another way of saying the refs didn't call fouls. When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.

I don't argue others' opinions...but I am going to take a different viewpoint on this "worst game ever" and "sloppy basketball" and "ugly" argument...
I can appreciate the hard word and effort even if the shots miss.......hey everyone has bad shooting days and UConn wasn't a whole lot better for 3/4 of this game.
Almost all the tourney games were relatively low scoring games...careful ball posession, defensive...
go back and check the scores from earlier NCAA rounds...almost half of all the games had one team scoring in the 40's or 50's!!

Effort was there, FGs were not.
That was the difference. The teams were both giving all-out effort.
Butler was just so uncharacteristically off. They were missing layups, threes, runners and tip-ins.
In fact, I think they just missed another three
UConn's length affected the shooting, and their interior size (and Lamb) won them the game.
Butler defended them well enough to win.

UConn students and fans filled Gampel Arena and watched the game last night. They carried their celebrations out onto the streets of campus and into tiny Storrs Connecticut, and got carried away.
There were 27 arrests for property damage, disturbing the peace, trespassing, and other violations.-
Thousands of Connecticut students stormed the court at Gampel Pavilion on Monday night as if the Huskies had just won the national championship at home.
But one Divisiojn I Athletic Director is in even more trouble.
Southern University AD Greg LeFleur was arrested in Houston at the Final Four on a charge of soliciting a prostitute. LeFleur is also the father of Gonzaga center Robert Sacre.
