  • NCAA Championship: Butler/UConn

Okay Butler. Time to finish what you started last year! Let's dispose of UConn and get your team that well deserved national championship! Go Bulldogs! Let's win one for all the mid-majors out there!

Notice after that monster block there was no bellowing, fist pumping, chest pounding, chest bumping, or showboating of any kind from any single player on the court for Butler.

For the sake of decency, please win this game Butler University.

OH HERE WE GO! "The WORST half of basketball EVER in a national championship game!" "This won't do the game any good!" "They better start making shots in the second half."

OH, now it's the "dome's" fault according to Barkley!

Someone PLEASE tell these schumcks to take a hike!

Well it was an ugly half...some missed short shots, some bad passes etc....but it was some excellent defense as well. It's why I like Butler.....they play so hard that even when they don't play good offensively they are still in games

Butler leads 22-19 at the half. One of the ugliest halves of basketball I've seen in quite some time. Butler made just 6 field goals, were minus 9 on the boards and were outscored 14-0 in the paint. Both teams combined for shooting under 27%. I like Butler's chances if it stays this ugly. If UConn can get some fast break baskets and Kimba Walker can go off I like their chances.

Butler plays excellent defense all the time, but they turn it up several notches when they can't score. There were some missed bunnies and bad passes, but I don't care if the game is in the 40's or 90's. Whoever wins deserves the trophy, but what I won't tolerate is people putting most of the blame for bad play on Butler, which everyone knows very well will happen if they win a very low scoring game.

Well I'm for Butler and I understand what you are saying but if the second half is like the first half it will be the ugliest chammpionship ever.....but it doesn't make any difference....whoever wins is still the NCAA champ for 2011....there is no asterik for ugly

UConn has picked up the pace a little more so far this half. Butler shooting just 18% for the game. Just can't stay that way if they want to win it. 35-28 with 11:38.

Well, I'll be the first to admit when I'm wrong, and I take back what I said earlier. This is shocking! Butler can't even throw a tennis ball into an empty gym, while UConn can't make a three pointer to save their life. But at least UConn has turned up their offense in the second half.

Hard to believe, but Butler has just set mid-major basketball back about 30 years!

I don't know if it does that really.....they just couldn't shoot tonight inside or out....they never quit though...and there are a lot of teams are not playing tonight that would love to be in their shoes

UConn wins it 53-41. UConn's superior inside strength won this game. Butler just couldn't handle it and weren't able to play their normal game. Back to back 2nd place finishes for the Bulldogs. Not too shabby. Just a shame they couldn't get it done.

I really feel bad for Stevens and the Bulldogs....losing is one thing but shooting that poorly really hurts

Yeah, you're right, just frustration on my part. At least they didn't lose on a last second shot this year. But while they never quit, that was a god-awful display of shooting that made some of our games this year look eloquent in comparison! But of course it would be fun to be there, though I will take a couple of Valley championships and an NCAA Tournament win or two to start.
