and guys like Smart and Stevens staying put at the mid majors.....I think this is somewhat indicative of younger people today and looking at quality of life for them and their families....they can still make a great living doing something they love without some of the BCS pressure smothering them.

I'm pretty sure their fans expect to make the NIT at least next season, if not the NCAA tourney. They're pretty knowledgeable fans though, and know that a bulk of their bulk (Bigs) are graduating - BIG shoes to fill with Durley, Blair, Ellis gone.

I was one who wasn't gonna be on suicide watch if Marshall had left. I'm good that he stayed, but he really needs to show that he is improving as a coach in the Valley next year to completely win me over. Valley teams have figured him out, now he needs to figure out how to counter.
If he can find a way to keep us in the top 3 next year I will be impressed.

There is no clear-cut favorite next season. Maybe Creighton, but they don't seem too deep, and outside of their big 3 (GE, DM, AY), I don't see a lot of talent. The Valley will be filled with "good" teams, but I think we'll struggle to get an At-Large team...again.
I like Wichita St. chances among these teams who I think will be Top 5 heading into next season:
Indy St.
Creighton
Wichita
UNI
Drake

here's a slap....
Gary Parrish does an early preseason top 25 for next year ...
he has George Mason, Alabama, and numerous other schools that Wichita would hammer mercilessly -- and he even has Kansas at #13 despite they are losing nearly their entire starting five....
Yet -- he makes no mention of Wichita State...
