  • Wichita State's Gregg Marshall insults Kansas

In a talk to fans when Wichita returned from winning the NIT --
Marshall referred to the Kansas Jayhawks as...

    "The Chickenhawks"..

apparently he got the idea from some of the Shocker fans who had signs that also referred to them as Chickenhawks...

the thread on the Kansas board is five times longer firing insults back at WSU than the thread on Shockernet

I know a guy who's pretty connected to the Shocker program and he said both KU and KSU just refuse to play Wichita. They both believe they have everthing to lose and nothing to gain from playing the Shockers. The only way it would happen would be in a NCAA tournament game or some type of in season tournament.

Well then KU and KSU deserve all the insults they get!

It really wasn't that big of a deal. And I did get a good chuckle out of it. KU has the most arrogant fan base I have ever come across. Even more-so than Creighton and that is saying something LOL.

Marshall was just saying something like:

"Do we have any mid-major players?"

"Do you think Alabama might like some of our players?"

"Do you think Washington St might like some of our players?"

        "How about Nebraska big red?"

Then as he was scanning the crowd he saw the sign and briefly said (with a chuckle):

"Or the chickenhawks?" While pointing to the sign.

I really think he just thought the sign was funny and was acknowledging that.

Indiana, Iowa and Iowa St. regularly play in-state mid-majors and look at how successful ...

... OK you may have a point

KU keeps losing to good "mid-majors" whenever they face them in the post season. They have an even more difficult time getting past MVC teams.

I would say they have alot to gain by playing WSU. Maybe they would learn how to beat MVC teams.....

                    LOL
