One interesting item from the Maryland-Hampton game. Maryland won easily, but their fan support may be slipping a little. The attendance was just 7,148 in the Comcast Center that seats 18,000 fans. That's one of the lowest attended games during the time that Gary Williams has been the coach at Maryland, and even that figure may have been inflated a little as there were apparently many no-shows. Maryland averaged 17,174 per game last year, and has been around 17,000 a year for a many years. They have perennially been in the top 5-10 nationally in attendance. Yet for a home game (part of a double-header), they drew fewer than Bradley drew for last Saturday's exhibition game. Even the Maryland press release refers to the "meager crowd of 7,148."
