According to David Kaplan, Porter Moser has been hired as the new coach of the Loyola Ramblers.

    Once A Brave ... Always A Brave

    Funny that the article states-
In three seasons at Little Rock, he posted a 54-34 record. After taking the reins of a team that had finished 4-24 before his arrival, he posted records of 18-11, 18-11 and 18-12 before moving on to ISU.

It mentions his head coaching record at Arkansas-Little Rock, but completely ignores his head coaching record at ISU.
    I wonder why?

One of the worst hires I've seen this off-season.

        agree 100%

If I was a Loyola fan I'd be pretty upset

They needed someone who would bring some excitement to that moribund program and instead they hire a retread
From PJ Star sports expert Kirk Wessler in his Jan. 10, 2012 column following 8th loss in a row at Drake-
"Yes, the Braves are better than they were when the season started two months ago. By a light year or two, they??™re better."

And from the PJ Star 4/26/12, Dave Reynolds-
"Fields and Grier both appear to be difference makers. If Bradley continues to add the right players around them, happy days may be ahead for the Braves after a long dry spell."

The 1963 Loyola Ramblers one of my all-time favorite teams. And the radio announcer Red Rush was great. Bradley should play them every year, maybe we can win the next one The Ramblers are the only team from Illinois to win a NCAA D1 Championship game. Go Butler

Those winning days at Arkansas-Little Rock are a long time ago-- as his most recent four years as head coach at ISU went 10-19, 17-13, 9-19, and 15-15...

Porter also was interim head coach a couple games at SLU while Rick Majerus was gone..he went 0-3

So are Loyola fans going to be happy getting a guy who really hasn't shown the ability to win for a long time?
I have a feeling certain BU fans would not have been happy.

Apparently Loyola was turned down by Jerry Wainright and Ricardo Patton.

I thought JL might get that job.

Rush was also a great baseball announcer for the Sox. He had many great sayings during games for both sports, like "swisheroo it went right through" after a made free throw and "right down State Street" after a called strike.

I know it will surprise some -- but Jim Les' name is being mentioned as a replacement for Moser on Majerus' staff at SLU

Put another 2 on the Gonnella scoreboard!

We won! We Won! We won the game!

I wish there was some audio archives, would like to hear the last few minutes of that 1963 championship game, I was in the basement bouncing my head off the floor joists listening to it on the radio, it was a great game. Can't find any links.

Also wish there was some video of Joe Allen & Co....Willie Betts, LC Bowen, Al Smith and Chuck Buescher...that was a good team. Can't find any links to any old Bradley film.

For anyone who also likes the Loyola Ramblers, check this out....

                            Here's a bit of trivia...

BOTH Bradley and Loyola share one distinction...

BOTH had a #1 overall NBA draft pick!!

Bradley: 1951 Gene Melchiorre - link

Loyola: 1972 LaRue Martin - link

fewer than 40 current D-I schools can make this boast (and even far fewer non-BCS schools) --
-- can anyone name the other current MVC school that can?
