ABC 7 chicago just reported Bruce Weber has had multiple conversations with Oklahoma about their open coaching job. I cannot find an article link right now, but I wonder how that will affect Sammy? It said with a new AD and pressure from a bad season at Illinois, Weber might take it.

Bruce Weber-Oklahoma?

You guys just beat me to it!
WGN-TV also just reported moments ago that Bruce Weber has had several conversations with Oklahoma regarding their vacant head coaching spot. The reasons he may looking to leave Illinois revolve around some Illinois fans not satisfied with his coaching, and the impending new Illinois Athletic Director.
Well, while it's unfortunate that an increasing contingent don't want him coaching at Illinois anymore, I think he will do fine at Oklahoma, which probably is a school where the emphasis on athletics centers more on football than basketball.
Just deleted my duplicate thread.

The Norman (Oklahoma) Transcript is who posted the story.
It shows up with a Google search, but the link is inactive, and the story does not appear anywhere on their website suggesting they may have quickly removed it?
Williams staying, maybe Weber?

Maybe it will reappear, but for now this is all there is..

This would be a huge move if Bruce was to leave. The carousel would be spinning out of control which it seems to be already with the plethora of big name programs swapping coaches. This has been a pretty whirlwind postseason for coaching moves. More upper echelon teams involved than ever with the Oklahomas, Missouri, NC State, Tennessee, and also locally with our situation, NIU, and Mo. St. If Illinois loses their coach it will be one of those postseasons to remember. And also, if Bruce leaves................who's next?Last edited by patrick_o'brian; 03-30-2011, 11:16 PM. Yes, disappointing is probably a better description. But like 2006 for us, if 5th place was good enough for Illinois to earn a #9 seed, I'd be happy with that too. I understand that the fans were expecting national championship type teams under his reign, but it just hasn't happened, and they can't use injuries as an excuse like we did.
I suppose they can try to lure Bill Self back, and that would solve their problem.....Oh wait. Maybe that would not be a good idea!

The Illinois fans are mixed. Some are concerned, others would be happy to see Bruce leave.
Here is one thread from one of the Illinois message boards. At first they get the story wrong and report it as Oklahoma State-

Here is the link to the original source for this rumor-
Note this line in that article-
So where does OU go from here?
A well-placed college basketball source told the Transcript on Wednesday night that Illinois coach Bruce Weber has emerged as a viable candidate and there appears to be mutual interest.
One candidate that remains in play, but has a lower profile is Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall. Sources close to OU and college basketball have both said Marshall is on Castiglione’s radar.

Nothing shown on ABC7 in Chicago regarding Bruce Weber. BUT they did show the Lamar Cup game at Shea Stadium as the Fire won 2-1.
Okay, who's the one responsible for setting off that smoke bomb during the game?! The sports anchor here called it another "Fog Bowl" game!
