The Bradley University Basketball Band is comprised of 90 members and led by Dr. David Vroman. This band is one of five bands at the University in a program that involves over 200 students. The Basketball Band musically, and enthusiastically, supports the Men??™s and Women??™s Basketball programs at all home games, pep rallies and in post-season tournaments. Their goal is to generate enthusiasm and school spirit that assists in creating a home-court advantage for Bradley University. Membership is by audition and the students come from across campus to participate.
The Bradley University Cheerleading Squad is a co-ed group of student athletes that are dedicated to the support of the University and its Athletic Programs. They cheer for Men's Soccer and both Women's and Men's Basketball and are coach by Ryan and Katie Hinnen. The squad travels with the teams to their respective post-season conference and NCAA tournaments and they have appeared on local, regional, and national TV including Fox Sports, ESPN, and CBS. Coach Ryan has been a part of the Bradley University Cheerleading program for over 10 years, first as a student-athlete and now as head coach. He is a former UCA Staff Instructor and an advocate for cheerleading safety and education. Katie was also a UCA Staff Instructor, former Braves Cheerleader, and has coached Gymnastics and Cheerleading for over 15 years.
The Bradley Bravettes Dance Team embraces dedication, hard work, and of course, school spirit. Coached by Christian Naven, the team performs at men??™s home basketball games, selected women??™s basketball games, and other various events on campus. Either the coach or the dancers choreograph each routine, incorporating jazz, pom, kick, and other various genres. Multiple choreographers allow each individual to grow as a dancer by learning other styles and technique since the dancers hail from various studios and dancing backgrounds. In addition, the members further develop their leadership skills by taking turns teaching and leading practices.
As the radio play-by-play announcer for the Bradley men's basketball team for 952 games since 1979, Dave Snell has served as the Voice of the Braves for 31 years. That title now applies to all of Bradley Athletics moving forward, however, as Snell has been appointed Assistant Director of Athletics Communications. In his new role, Snell oversees the production of video features for the athletic department's official website, BradleyBraves.com and graphic displays in the University's Renaissance Coliseum, as well as for Bradley athletics events at Carver Arena and O'Brien Field, televised games and special events. In addition to his direct role with the athletic department, Snell teaches a broadcasting class in the Slane College as part of the University's popular new Sports Communication degree program, providing him the opportunity to mentor the next generation of Bradley broadcasters.
