  • Donivine Stewart: "I meant it!"

I guess he was telling the truth all along. Great news from Donivine Stewart!

Limestone High School guard Donivine Stewart attended the news conference and met Ford before the proceedings began. Stewart said he’s all in with the new regime.

“I think they made a great hire,’’ Stewart said, “but I never had any doubts. When I said I wanted to play for my city and play for Bradley, I meant it.’’

Some great comments from DSE too.

“I loved him. Absolutely loved him,’’ Simms-Edwards said about Ford. “He’s a proven winner. What more can you ask for in a coach? All he talked about was the NCAA tournament and postseason. As a player, that's what you play for. That’s my dream, to get to the NCAA tournament. That was big.’’

Sounds like we're going to have just about everyone on board next year. Cement DSE, and we're good to go. The turnaround could be a short one.

This is great news, and should be celebrated!

From what I heard of DSE, he isn't 100% in for next year. I think (and hope) that he will stay at BU. Did he say that he hasn't gotten a release?

Agreed. DSE is key. His comments indicate he's feeling much better about BU, and hopefully his individual meeting with Geno cements that.

Yeah article indicates DSE is feeling better but the deal isn't sealed. I'm hopeful he'll decide to stay after those comments. Seems like we might not even experience a huge amount of turnover here...

Can't help but wonder though, will Coach Ford want to retain the complete roster?

              That's the million dollar question.

Personally, I don't think he's going to jettison anyone, nor do I think he will need to. I think there's a few guys that may have been leaving on their own, regardless of who the coach was. Just speculation on my part though.

I've actually never thought BU lacked talent and I think that there are some on the roster that where given short spurts of chances that at the first signs of adversity were yanked to the bench. I'm going to be most intrigued to see how GF assesses the talent he is given and how he utilizes these players.

Each year we have some level of attrition or de-commits from recruits. It's to be expected. What excites me is that the key pieces to the puzzle seem to be warming up to staying. Still a long way to go. We're in the euphoria stage, but I'm still hopeful.

Glad to have you still aboard DS! You will not regret it for a day!

Wonder if DSE is worried about future PT and where he would fit in if DS and RA are on the roster, as well as any new recruits GF can bring in next year...

Or, possibly waiting to see if new BU offensive scheme suits him

Or, possibly waiting to see if BU will have enough quality bigs next year and during his senior year to compete for championships/NCAA in the MVC...

His per game averages after coming back from the knee injury were awesome... Good enough that he wouldn't play behind very many people.

This is not a knock so don't take it that way...(kinda sad to have to even preface - because JL played what he believed was his strong suit)...but I'll personally be very happy just to see more balance on the floor in a more traditional team structure.

If I never see another four guard offense again it'll be too soon.

+1 My thoughts exactly, this has got to be a new beginning for the bigs, we'll see what GF's game plan is for them and how they respond. I hope the big guy from Iowa still comes, I hope all the recruits still come Everything I'm reading says uptempo, let's get reeeaaadddy to score more points than the other team!
