Good start for Creighton, but can they steal one in Oregon? That would be nice!

Any attendance numbers? I'd think there'd be a nice turnout for Dana's return.

          12,381 for tonight's game.

Beats the 6,392 at the last game. Creighton has played every game at home, so far. The next one will be at Oregon.

That has to be a CBI record. Wow. Not bad.

Game 2 of the CBI final series is at Oregon tonight, and is on HDNet (Comcast cable channel 92.

Oregon maintained a modest lead for most of the first half, but has opened up an almost 20 point lead early in the second half.

I would not be too surprised to see this series go 3 games, as every CBI so far has done.

Incorrect. VCU won in 2 games over SLU last year.

It looks like there will be a game 3 as Oregon is up 58-46 with under 8 minutes to go. Creighton will have their work cut out for them on Friday night!

Oregon won 71-58 and Creighton seemed to come out really flat and got down double digits early...

Lawson came off the bench and saved them from getting blown out by 25...but starters all had off games...
McDermott was 1-4, and only 6 pts/2 rebs!! one of his worst games in his entire long career!!
Young was 1-7 & didn't hit a single 3-pointer...and the starters teamed for 16 turnovers!!!!

BTW -- can anyone recall from memory who has won the last 3 CBI Titles??

mouse over below to see the answer...

Last year, 2010 -- VCU won over Saint Louis - in two straight games
                      2009 - Oregon State over UTEP - 2 games to 1
                      2008 - Tulsa over Bradley - 2 games to 1

McDermott had several early ticky-tack fouls called on him that resulted in him spending a lot of time on the bench. He only played 15 minutes total (only 4 minutes in the first half) and most of that came when the game was already a 20-point blowout in the 2nd half. The game actuallly seemed to be called fairly loosely, except every time McDermott came close to an Oregon player the whistle blew.
In a best-2-of-3 series like this CBI, there is obviously a lot more money to be made if it goes 3 games, than just 2. And Oregon did play better than Creighton last night. But you don't think the refs would try to gets fouls on Creighton's best player just to insure a 3rd game, would you?
