Normal U-High has a freshman that this article compares to Jereme Richmond..

    "Exciting Freshman At Normal U-High

    Keita Bates-Diop ...class of 2014 ...
    Keita Bates-Diop recently visited Illinois.

Keita Bates-Diop is a 6’-6” combo forward from Normal University High School.

Although he is only a freshman, he is a bright young man who is already researching the schools and
basketball programs he might consider attending, including looking into the University of Illinois.

Peoria Irish AAU coach Gavin Sullivan talked about how his young forward enjoyed the experience of
attending a major college basketball game as a recruit.
His AAU coach said this plus his ability to handle the ball at his size are the two aspects that stand out
in his game at this stage. And he also already has a 7’-0” wingspan!

He has a long way to go, but Sullivan could see Bates-Diop develop into a role similar to that of a current Illini player.
“He is kind of in the mold right now where he could possibly turn into a Jereme Richmond type of player as far as
being a point forward type. His IQ is pretty good, and his ball handling is good.

I averaged about 17 ppg, and for the varsity I started getting more playing time. The JV team finished at 21-1.”"

Instead of going to the Springfield Lanphier-Peoria Central game this weekend I got a chance to see this kid instead. All I can say is Wow! His future is bright. Has all the tools to be a stud and is a very good athlete. Good looking jump shot with elevation, handles the ball like most guards, has good quickness and speed, and he is one of those players who can go down the court in 5 strides. He looks to be at least 6'7'' and maybe taller, and, I swear, has arms as long as Kevin Durant's. The only negative I saw is that he takes some plays off but this can get better since he is only a Sophomore. I don't know what is in his head but I hope he is nothing like J. Richmond. If I was Geno I would be tracking this guy to learn as much as possible. Get him in for an early visit before he blows up.

Keita is a great kid and comes from a very good family. Very down to earth and humble. He will be a high major player, out of Bradley's league already. 6'7with a 7'1 wingspand. Has offers from Depaul, Purdue, and Northwestern already.

Im not saying don't throw BU's name in the mix, but I believe this one is a waste of time to try to go after because of his size talent and offers already!
