Here is one interesting connection between a coach at Kent State and Bradley President Joanne Glasser, though I doubt this played any part in the hiring of Geno Ford-

Now, we don't know if Geno Ford will bring any of his assistant coaches with him, but it seems like a good chance he might bring Senderoff, his right-hand man and chief recruiter. Among Senderoff's former assistant coaching stops was a 1 year stint at Towson State University from 2001-2002 under first year head coach Michael Hunt.
The Executive Vice President and chief advancement officer at Towson University was Joanne Glasser, who left Towson late in August of 2001 to take over as President at Eastern Kentucky University. There would have been a few months overlap between the time Senderoff was hired as an assistant at Towson, and when Glasser left, so there is a chance they knew each other.


One more tidbit of information- Kent State, despite winning the MAC for the last 2 years, only averaged 3,464 fans per game at home. Coach Ford should be pleasantly surprised with the crowds at the Civic Center.

Jeff Goodman of FoxSports.com calls Geno Ford "one of the funniest guys in the business". So we know he has a sense of humor. That's good!

One blogger lists these guys as possible replacements at Kent State-
Rob Senderoff, Pat Kelsey, Orlando Antigua, Archie Miller, Jeff Boals, Dane Fife, Pat Skerry & Matt Graves.

I doubt they will be able to get Antigua (top Kentucky assistant and regarded by some as the top recruiter in the country), or Matt Graves (top Butler assistant, and likely to get higher offers)

This hire looks good. I'm really glad that the hiring process is complete. BU definitely kept this quiet.

Wasn't Rob Senderoff one of the guys pulled into the Sampson and Indiana problems. Many thought he was a fall guy.

He was the fall guy. But I suspect he may have been thrown under the bus. He has an impeccable reputation before and since that time.

Good hire. Completes my checklist nicely:

1) Proven winner - 2 MAC titles. Has that program just ahead of the other programs in the MAC.

2) Quality scheduler - me personally, one thing I worried about was replacing Les' ability to schedule up in the non-con and be relevant on a national stage. Kent St usually leads the MAC in RPI and always has solid SoS numbers.

3) Midwest ties - local enough to take advantage of local recruiting opportunities
